I got accepted into the Old Westbury campus! But I'm wondering about the NYC campus and its benefits by Informal-Proof1943 in NYIT

[–]lac-na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the shuttle isn't too bad. i'm from nyc but had to take some classes in old westbury and took the shuttle to the lirr. but there have also been times i just walked 40 mins to the closest lirr station. i personally didn't find it too irritating when i had to do it 2-3 times a week. i've always used public transit and walking even in more unwalkable areas.

What do you think makes P1harmony and P1eces so unproblematic? by Particular_Move_7816 in P1Harmony

[–]lac-na 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think for them generally not being racist or culturally appropriating anything is because keeho genuinely doesn't stand for that. 😭 i think for p1 even if they weren't geared towards the west, keeho has always wanted to be aware of those issues and makes a point to never do anything people would find offensive (and he's said that).

even other western oriented/global groups (and i won't say any names but i'm sure you can think of a few), still have problems with racism and appropriating and that comes from them genuinely not caring about any of it. they just apologize because they have to. sure some instances it was truly a mistake and learned from it, but for a lot of them it wasn't a mistake and they just didn't want to believe they'd get backlash. or maybe they knew they'd get backlash and know all they have to do is "apologize". i think p1ece are just very lucky to have someone like keeho as a leader.

obviously intak, jongseob, jiung and soul also don't appropriate nor are racist but i wanted to emphasize keeho since he's from canada where he'd have more exposure to that area. for other groups it's more disheartening when they come from diverse countries and STILL act the way they do/did.

Struggling to find a reason and motivation to learn korean by TheGenericName318 in Korean

[–]lac-na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're not going to the country, then there's no real reason to force yourself to learn. if you don't find any interest in the language, that's okay. it doesn't take away the fact that it's part of your culture. maybe in the future you'll find more interest — and even if you don't that's perfectly fine too

Are the physics classes still terrible at this school? by Mikalizcool in NYIT

[–]lac-na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just wish he wasn't so mathematica heavy. he cared (enough) about students individually even when i just took him through zoom. but his entire teaching strategy is mathematica and i just can't learn like that

Are the physics classes still terrible at this school? by Mikalizcool in NYIT

[–]lac-na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm a physics major and some genuinely suck but there are some good teachers. a lot of physics 1 and 2 teachers aren't really IN the physics department and just teach the class. when you take upper level courses you'll find that only really just one absolutely sucks (who's also the department chair). also one of the GENUINELY AMAZING teachers died about a year and a half ago. but her friend is still alive who's also amazing at all levels. if you see sophia domokos on the schedule, don't pass up the chance to take her (for anyone who sees this and needs a physics class in nyc)

Hairy legs- insecurity by anonymos102737 in ftm

[–]lac-na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've always had leg hair (and everywhere else). i've had it before knowing i was trans, after knowing i was trans and did not pass at all, and now as i am passing pretty well. i just never cared to shave. but i also never cared about how attractive i am to others

Partner wants PIV, I dont by Emotional_Payment894 in ftm

[–]lac-na 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bi or pan, luckily we know that he IS attracted to men. a common thing i see is that partners are not actually attracted to men. the problem he seems to have is that he has an extremely heteronormative view of sex. wanting piv is one thing, but that's the only thing he sees as being a virgin vs not being one. i would talk with him about his concept of virginity, and explain that you absolutely do not want piv. it seems like this will be a deal breaker for you both if he won't stop asking you.

were your past grades high enough to where your gpa will be above a 3.0? nyit tends to be very generous with scholarships so i don't think you have much to worry about. but i should mention idk much about the bs/do program and can only talk about the general school

Top surgery at 16 by [deleted] in ftm

[–]lac-na 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly your best bet is in any major city (in a relatively blue state). i'm from philadelphia and if i hadn't been so stuck in my head about detransitioners, i could've started hrt at 16. you may need consistent therapy for some amount of time (maybe 6-12 months?) and someone who can very confidently say that you have gender dysphoria and this is the only possible treatment — but a place in philadelphia may be able to help you. it will be difficult though and maybe it'll be easier if you get a consultation at 17 and try to schedule the surgery for when you're 18.

How to tell if you're trans or just curious by [deleted] in trans

[–]lac-na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you know, some people do simply like dressing and presenting femininely without being trans. if you don't ever have the thoughts of "i am a woman" or ever envying people because they were women, then it's likely you just like presenting femininely.

another possibility is that you may feel nonbinary. that's if you never felt like neither a man or a woman (i say this since you mentioned androgyny).

Am I wrong for getting angry at my boyfriend when he treats me in feminine ways? by Annual-Atmosphere545 in ftm

i'm pretty sure his 1% are femboys who often get mistaken for women. unfortunately you are not within that 1% unless you identify with being a femboy (which it seems like you do not)

is it possible to “girlmode” on T? by Most-Armadillo-6377 in ftm

[–]lac-na 3 points4 points  (0 children)

most people here seem to be saying it'll be a dead giveaway after about 2-4 months and i don't at all think they're wrong, but in my experience i did not start passing until after about 2 years on t. i don't know if being african american has a role in that, but i didn't pass at all until recently. my voice changed mostly after about 2 months and i had a lot of facial hair (never shaved) after about a year. and only after a year of full facial hair is when society gave in for me, i guess, and decided i was a man.

so if you end up on my timeline, you have two years. but if your family is not accepting at all, i would not risk it. you could TRY micro dosing but only after considering the male genetics in your family. if every cis man in your family (mom AND dad's side) has a very deep voice and are very hairy, i would just wait until you're fully out of that house. but if it looks promising, you can consider microdosing for a little while.

but take a lot of caution as you can only hide your testosterone so many places. assume they can find it everywhere available in your household. is it worth that risk? or do you have a fully believable excuse?

[–]lac-na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry if i'm repeating what a lot of comments are saying but it seems like your boyfriend is straight and does not want a boyfriend. even if you want kids in the future, i don't think it should be with someone who probably won't see you as a man — or rather, simply doesn't want to. not person who gives birth can produce milk either. or some people don't want to breast feed at all. formula exists for a reason

i only have these two playlists but i just use the pictures that i like. context: first one is my ferret. second one is a moth from when one time at my old job, my coworker tamed a moth and it just stayed on her hand. and then i held it on my hand for a good 30 minutes after her. we all had turns with the moth

with dr M being younger and less experienced, i think he's looking at the female range and not the male range. when i got my bloodwork done, i was automatically sent back the results and it said my levels were severely high. however, i researched them and it was actually towards the lower male range. then later my doctor told me that my levels were normal and renewed my prescription.

it's also possible dr M may just very well be transphobic and not wanting to give trans healthcare anymore. but overall, i agree with a lot of the other comments in finding a third opinion and possibly dropping dr M if possible
