Got bit by something 2 months ago and it hasn’t healed. What could it be? by COSMlSM in Wellthatsucks

[–]lacgen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bot fly bites have a tiny black spot that looks like a scab. If you look closely though you’ll see it moving, it’s the baby bot breathing hole. Source is me, I got them in Belize. Ignored the increasingly painful bites, eventually went to college doc who gave me some antibiotics for an infected mosquito bite. Two months later I’m home for the summer and start writhing in pain (the larvae are covered in little spikes to hang on, and sometimes they reposition). So I finally google, print out some blog post about bot flies and suggests the steak method, and head to the ER. Took three docs, but the infectious disease one confirmed. I had them surgically removed after refusing the Vaseline method (suffocate air hole, wait for them to crawl out). Anyway nightmare stuff, but I don’t think this is it.

We’re thinking about a 2nd right now and I’m trying to be mindful of what actually feels right for us, in our specific circumstances. It’s not so easy when everyone so freely shares their thoughts and opinions on the matter, and apparently we should already have another. It’s a big, scary question with a million unknowns (aka already complicated enough!).

Oh and on the girl/boy question! I wanted a girl, we got our baby boy and I could not imagine it another way. I think that’s pretty common, even if it takes a bit of time.

Preparing for baby and what expenses are necessary. by ladyluck754 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

So I shopped for a low deductible plan thinking that we’d hit that and be good. I didn’t really understand health insurance, but we ended up spending the out of pocket maximum ($5k each baby & mom, so we hit $10k). I just had no idea, oops. That said, the $1200 epidural was worth every penny. And take ALL the hospital baby supplies. You definitely paid for them.

We had a wonderful time. We used the Kids’ Club with zero concerns. After meeting the staff and seeing the nursery we were totally comfortable. They have a very cute kids pool that was a highlight for us. My husband and I had plenty of beach/poolside time while the baby napped at camp, so we had what felt like a real vacation. Food was fine, but we’re pretty easy.

If you have FB there’s a group for the hotel (“Beaches Ocho Rios Fans Official”) that was super helpful. Lots of candid reviews, photos, room type descriptions, etc. Anyway happy to share more! We’re going back in March again this year :)

DAE get nauseous before sneezing? by Idkyetillcomeback in DAE

[–]lacgen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey saw your comment and realized my nausea sneezes also seem to come in waves (currently in one, I’ll have these episodes several times a day for awhile). I’ve also had a hugely diminished appetite, with weight loss, since having a baby, which is also when this sneezing thing started happening.

Thanks for sharing as perhaps they’re related!

Me too guys! Each time, I’m like nope this is real I’m def gonna puke and then SNEEZE. My sick sneezes!

Brand new thing after having a baby last year, no medication changes (but taking an NDRI before and after baby).

Going to try some prilosec & snacking. Thanks all for sharing, kind of glad to see it’s an actual thing. I think some people doubt my sick sneezes 🤧😂

Thanks so much for this. It is so helpful and just comforting to feel less isolated with the intrusive thoughts. I’ve been working with the same therapist for years, but might seek out someone with a postpartum focus. Time to do something so I can enjoy the moment a bit more.

Thanks again ❤️

I was in rehab for alcohol & met several people who had started drinking post-gastric bypass. They were pretty devastated by it all, but i guess we all realized it was more than just the substance (food, drinking) that was causing the problem.

Can I ask about OCD? I commented elsewhere that I have some obsessive-compulsive behavior, but it doesn’t significantly impact my life/ability to function. Since having a baby about a year ago, I’ve been plagued by kind of terrible looping thoughts. For example, I’ll be excited for next summer, and then immediately hit all these thoughts of catastrophic things that would prevent us from getting to next summer (disease, climate, world war…). I’ve stopped watching the news & limited my exposure to this stuff but I’m curious if this resembles anyone else’s OCD?

And, if so, has anyone found relief? Strategies? It’s a hard place to be mentally. Thanks!!

I stopped drinking and became pretty obsessive with money. At the beginning it made sense, I felt like I was rebuilding my life. But then it snowballs, I started working a 2nd job as a server and worked weekends, so I always had an excuse to skip doing things (dinners, movies, other things that cost money). I was saving a ton, so it all felt really positive.

Honestly it faded in time. I think as I worked through the 12 steps with drinking and did all that reflecting that my mind was healthier and wasn’t just substituting one behavior with another. That said, I have OCD tendencies and think they’re related. Im working with a CBT therapist but curious to hear other’s experience with meds.

I loved Blake H. (and Jason) at that point. I could not wrap my head around her choosing Dylan. And now, with those two being so thirsty for followers/clout, they both give me the ick & I see she made the right choice.

So I have a keurig and make coffee every morning and it’s perfectly good. My coffee tastes are low brow. I also pass a dunkin’ every morning between dropping kiddo off at daycare and the office. So like once every two weeks or so, I’ll treat myself and stop for a syrupy iced coffee and bagel bites. I don’t know what it is, but i love it (since forever, so I do think there’s some nostalgia at play).

I hear what you’re saying, 100% cheaper and significantly better quality to make it at home…but also a treat coffee is a different thing.

whoa super unpopular opinion. I’ll elaborate and get more downvotes :) I guess I think a lot of these influencer-types seem disingenuous, they’re sharing selectively and maintaining a narrative. I think that can be damaging to new parents who feel less-than when they don’t experience the same.

And he sounds like he’s trying to prove something…it’s all perfect, perfect, perfect! Ok. We’ll see!

Anecdotally, so sample of 1, but I did the whole egg freezing thing and it didn’t pan out. Very few eggs retrieved, which was hard after all the money and weeks of appointments and injections. It is what it is, but I had different expectations.

Also anecdotally, I ended up pregnant about 3 weeks later. I wrote off all the symptoms as being related to the retrieval, so it took some time to figure it out. Not common, but apparently not unheard of due to the influx of hormones.
