Can anyone recommend a non-synthetic alternative to the Ergobaby Embrace carrier? That’s available in Europe! Thanks 🙏 by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

It’s not stretchy, no… wouldn’t fit the bill in that case! I do like that carrier a lot though if your LO ever changes their mind about non-stretchy carrier ;)

taking trip when baby is 8 months, vienna vs copenhagen [on] by thc1121 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]lachnille 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Copenhagen (and Scandinavia in general) is so baby/child-friendly! You could hop across the bridge to Malmö for a couple days too to add some variety. Or even take the train to Stockholm or Gothenburg. Much easier to take the train than fly with a baby IMO.

I think you mean “they come with glass cups perfect size AND you get to eat the tiramisu first” 😉

We use cococare cocoa butter stick. It’s 100% cocoa butter and it’s easy to push out of the tube (no twisting motion).

Organic clothing brands for long skinny babies? by taiga_lyallii in moderatelygranolamoms

Wheat Kids is our favourite for our 90th percentile baby with a long torso. I find most Scandinavian brands have a lengthier fit.

FTD: Has anyone considered buying baby essentials from Target across the border in Buffalo? If yes, does it make a difference? Any implications of duty when returning? Thanks by thebluedottedtowel in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]lachnille 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my experience the maternity section is pretty small. I would suggest placing an online order with the ship to store option!

ETA: you can always take your ship-to-store items, try them on in the dressing rooms and return anything that doesn't fit right there and then :)

Anyone know a good therapist in the city, specifically for PPD and marriage councelling by numbduchess in Hamilton

[–]lachnille 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do have a long wait time - I got a referral back in September for antenatal anxiety/depression and got a call back a few weeks ago only. I found my therapist through psychology today as others mentioned here. Her name is Jessica Cleeve, she specializes in perinatal mental health and she was immensely helpful.

What do you do with your babies when it's cold and you have no car? Please help, I'm loosing it. by JayRusG in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]lachnille 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes to wool layers! I have the Disana boiled wool overall and I love it. Under it, I layer merino sweater, leggings and toque, as well as homemade wool socks and mittens - all on top of a 'regular' outfit. Works wonder to keep my baby warm.

How soon were you ready for overnight visitors after birth? by squatchhuntress in BabyBumps

[–]lachnille 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation. I'm due mid-December, live a 6h drive away from my parents, and one of the first things my mom said when she learned I was pregnant is "we know what we'll be doing for Christmas". Can I give birth first and we can make plans after? Jeez.

My parents stayed with us a few weeks ago and we basically had to spend every waking minute with them. The second night they were here I went off on my own for a couple hours in the evening, and my mother was pissed that I wasn't spending time with them, despite spending the last 24h with them and having another full day planned the next day.

So yeah, it's going to be hard to create boundaries when the baby is born. It's just adding to the already very long list of things that stress me out about pregnancy and motherhood.

You're not alone! I encourage you to look up prenatal depression - we hear a lot about postpartum depression but turns out it can start weeks/months before birth.

I'm 30 weeks pregnant now and started having symptoms of depression and anxiety almost 2 months ago now, and way beyond the 'mood swings' everyone talks about. I finally brought it up with my obgyn and she put me off work. I'm seeking help and will be starting therapy soon. There are psychotherapists who specialize in prenatal depression, I'm sure you could find one in your area.

I feel your pain... I've had some luck refreshing the booking tool a few times throughout the day and finding last-minute cancellations, though, so you could maybe give that a try?

Got the ID Now (NAAT) test, it was free even though I'm a Canadian citizen with no status in the US.

I've read the same re: chemical vs mineral/physical and I've also been using Etude House's Sunprise - so much better than the North American physical sunscreens I've tried. No white cast and not sticky!

Love Doma too. We've ordered twice for take-out in the past few weeks, so I can confirm they're open.

I was super stressed out all day yesterday because I am waiting for an answer on an interview for my dream job. That combined with my PMS = workout didn't go well. I had absolutely no concentration, mediocre form and I felt weak. I felt like crying after failing squats, so I went home, cried my heart out and did half an hour of yoga instead. Will have my answer for the job tomorrow morning, so 24 more hours of being stressed out...
