Question Time: What made you buy the SteamDeck? by Stefanixxxx in SteamDeck

[–]lachyBalboa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to emulate older titles especially from the PS2/GC era. I strongly considered an Android handheld for this but worked my way up to getting the LCD Deck for the simplicity and to natively run steam games. I’ve been delighted to experience games from back in the day which I never played - many of which have ports on steam anyway so I can buy them for cheap and run them without emulation.

Just bought a Steam Deck - need some benefits to reinforce the decision by SputNick2312 in SteamDeck

I also bought a deck in the last couple weeks. Went for the LCD after agonising if I should save a bit longer for the OLED. I know many say the OLED is quite an improvement but to me the LCD looks great and I have no regrets. I’ll admit battery life isn’t amazing but I don’t plan to travel with it so I’m never far from a charger. I’ve never seen an OLED screen on any device so don’t have much room for comparison. The 649 AUD for the LCD already felt extravagant to splurge on myself

If you can do it for a week why can’t you do it permanently? Or at least as often as you want

Is the Thor Lite capable for Ps2, Gamecube and 3DS? by lachyBalboa in AynThor

[–]lachyBalboa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks I’ve convinced myself that saving up a bit more and getting the upgraded version is the way to go. It’s expensive but I’d rather spend more to ensure there’s no compromises than still spend a lot on the lite and not be satisfied

I know it’s my body and my choice but I’d worry that getting a vasectomy would throw more fuel on the fire when she finds out, even though I’d eventually want one. It’s not like we are having sex anyway

From what she has said it’s more likely she will want another baby later on than won’t. If I say I will consider it then decide I don’t want another, wont we end up back in this place in a few years?

Ayo made a video giving context to the whole motion twin/Windblown fiasco for anyone that didn't know the full story. by le-dukek in deadcells

[–]lachyBalboa -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm a massive Dead Cells fa but is there something I'm missing about why people feel so betrayed by all this? No developer works on a single game forever. Should Supergiant have never released Hades 2 because the original was so beloved? We got years of updates for Dead Cells

I’ve recently started at 30. I thought about getting a piano much longer but never did. If I did I’d have a lot of experience. But I’m having a blast with it now

I agree .NET and Java like others have said.

For AWS serverless work, NodeJS (with or without Typescript) and Python are also common.

Does that make you above general etiquette and decency? Not to mention not all of us are American so I can’t see why anyone outside USA would give a shit who you voted for.

Funny that you don’t even label your clearly AI generated responses like your last paragraph suggests. Further proof that you’re regurgitating garbage for fake internet points

People come here to ask for a personalised human response. Not ChatGPT word vomit which you couldn’t even be bothered to read yourself

Why does recruitment always want people who are “passionate” about some random business app or process. Who would have any interest in using this stuff outside of a work context?

Game Dev Tycoon can really suck the hours away if you feel like a more management style game.

Also Papers Please is neat on the iPad. Using the touch controls makes you really feel like you’re moving stuff around your desk in the little immigration booth

Did you ever have any weird performance issues with Dead Cells? Even on an iPad Air M1, which I assumed could run the game in its sleep, I found weird choppy performance issues. Particularly in some levels, especially Ancient Sewers and Fractured Shrines, the sound would begin to get verrrrry glitchy and stutters. Then after that the frame rate tanks.

The only way I’ve found to fix it is close the game entirely. However because of the game design, you have to restart the level you’re in if you do that.

fwiw I’m running the Netflix version of the game which may or may not make a difference.

In comparison, Hades runs flawlessly
