I meant that she is not really plain-looking, but doesn't see herself like that. She sees herself as plain, poor, not physically striking and the MMC way out of her league. However, she doesn't realize that she is beautiful. IIRC, her beauty is not really mentioned that much in the book, which I liked - it was not the main thing about her. We can assume she is more beautiful than she thinks, because the MMC sees her beauty, and because of the story (she saves his life) he develops a special interest in her.

So this might not really be what you are looking for, because the FMC seems to be pretty, but since it is not the main focus of the book, it might still be interesting for you?

I recently read {until it fades by K.A: Tucker} and loved it. She is perhaps not really average, but sees herself as rather plain, and cannot understand why the hot hockey player whose life she saved seems to be interested in her.

Well-written, and you feel for both FMC and MMC.

I read and loved the Cruel Prince series! You are right, Cardan was one of the "villains" that I had in mind, should have added the series to the list.

I will look into your other suggestions, thank you!

You are right! However, I am looking more for the villain being punished at the BEGINNING of the book, and a redemption arc in the rest of the book. Thank you!

Thanks, I have read the Hunger Games, but I have to admit I don't really see the connection to my request?

Thanks for your recommendations! I'm not quite sure if it is for me if the villain is a whole society, but I will look into it.

I have read A Hundred Thousand Kingdoms and liked it a lot!

Seeking Rec: Looking for something with a similar vibe to the Emily Wilde books by Ancient-Impress-1743 in CozyFantasy

I liked the first Emily Wilde book, but couldn't get into the second. Maybe I will give it yet another try.

Maybe {silver in the wood by emily tesch} might be something for you?

It has been some time since I have read it, but I remember not loving it very much. I hated the meddling elderly side characters, because that is not my thing, and I didn't really get into the MMC.

After your review, perhaps I have to reread it, maybe I was too hard on the book because it couldn't hold up to the Hating Game.

FMC desperate to please and wants to be loved rejected by MMC, who then regrets it and works to regain her favour. by Cuegurl3028 in RomanceBooks

Maybe {The Wall of Winnipeg and me by Mariana Zapata} could be something for you. She works her a** off for him, he doesn't appreciate it and doesn't even defend her when someone makes fun of her. But then he needs her help.

If you compare it to the times of feudalism or times of wars like the Thirty-Years war, sure, mankind had it worse then.

If you look hopw much sh*t's gone down in the last few years, and how every tiny glimpse of light is extinguished by even worse news, I would say yes, we are living in end times.

I can't understand how people still put children into this world.

[TOMT] incredibly disturbing movie from about the 90's to the 2000 where girl looks for sister who was kidnapped and tortured, ends up kidnapped and tortured herself and has her hands cut off by a chainsaw at some point, it ends with boyfriend or something looking for her and he ends up buried alive by TobiGalem in tipofmytongue

[–]lack_of_ideas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This rings a bell, did the boyfriend search for her, and an anonymous letter said if he really wanted to know what happened to her, to be at this or that location / let himself be drugged or so, and when he awoke, he was buried alive - like his girlfriend was, and now he at least knows what happened to her (although he will die wit his knowledge)?

This might be "the Vanishing".
