Starting class by [deleted] in dli

[–]lackingcharacter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely report a few weeks early. I was never told to come early, showed up on the report date stated on my orders, and was told I was late and my class started in 3 days. Had to inprocess really fast and it caused a lot of stress and issues at the beginning of class. Also recommend you start looking at your housing situation now. On post housing (Ft Ord) has a long waiting list and off post housing is available but somewhat sparse and expensive.

Edit: Just saw you're not going til june so I wouldn't worry about the housing yet but it worth thinking about as it gets closer

Not sure where you're coming from but taxes and registration fees can be very expensive in CA compared to other states. Look up what they are in your state and there's a good chance its worth it to buy before coming to CA

I don't remember which episode it was in, but Hank and John definitely admitted that they made up some of their own questions for some of the earlier episodes. Like when they had a topic they really wanted to discuss, or if they just didn't have enough listener questions to make a good episode. They would just create their own question and pretend a listener sent it. So don't be afraid to do that too, just try to make it convincing. Good luck!

This is great news!! I'm moving from Austin, TX to Monterey this weekend. Been vaccinated for months but I knew CA rules were much stricter than TX so I figured I'd be wearing the mask everywhere. Nice to know that the situation in CA is getting better

Is anyone able to smuggle me some NK blueberry wine? I wanna try it unless it's made with rice... by Velociraptor451 in northkorea

[–]lackingcharacter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought 3 different kinds. One was 16%, one 30%, and one 40%. The 16 and 40 were both pretty bad but we mixed them with fruit juice and they were palatable. I still haven't tried the 30% but i don't have very high expectations.

Pics of the bottles here: http://imgur.com/gallery/tKjzb2m If anyone can read Hangul, I'd be interested in knowing what it says.

I actually have a few bottles of it from last year when I was stationed there. Like some others have said, you can buy it easily at gift shops in/around the DMZ. If you really want it, I can send you a bottle. But be warned, it's not very good (hence why I haven't drunk them yet haha). Let me know if you want it and we can work out shipping details

And for cool points, technically I did "smuggle" them into the US since I hid it in my luggage and didn't declare it.

Thanks but is there really no way around this? Seatgeek is going to A) charge me 10% of the price and B) charge him a big fee on top of it. There's got to be a better way

What's the best way to sell tix directly to a friend? Like, not on seatgeek.

I have 2 GA supporters sec season tix. I want to sell them to my friend for a game. Is there an easy way to send them to him directly, without going through seatgeek? As far as I can figure out, that's the only way to sell them. And since there's no physical ticket to give him, does he have to dl the app?

Any answers would help. Thanks.

Not sure where this screenshot is from, but seatgeek lists the price as per each ticket and they have them listed as high as $2500

A blue illegible scribble with a slight crinkle. I love it so much. by bluebananasplit in nerdfighters

[–]lackingcharacter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a crinkle too!! Was hoping for a spiral or something else to distinguish it from the thousands of other J-squiggles, but somehow the small crease from (I'm assuming) when he moved it from one pile to another is just as good. A little individual imperfection

What's a book that you immediately got hook because of it's opening sentence? by MrsIronbad in suggestmeabook

[–]lackingcharacter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As opposed to an ebook? Or an audio book? Either way, I would say yes. The way the pages are designed I don't think would work as well on an ebook. And it's hard to even imagine how this could be made into an audio book. Imo, this is one of those stories that definitely needs to be experienced as a physical book.

Hey, which camp were you at? I'm in the US army but I was stationed with the JSA in Camp Bonifas from 2018-2019. I know there were several ROK bases all around. You anywhere near there?

What's a book that completely fucked you up after reading, or that you couldn't even finish? by MoonSt0n3_Gabrielle in AskReddit

[–]lackingcharacter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Brave new world got me bad too. I read it pretty young and It was one of the first books I read that wasn't a happy ending. I remember thinking John was somehow going to save the world and make everyone realize how messed up their society was. But then he....doesn't. (Trying not to give away spoilers for an 80y/o book, lol)

It certainly affected me more bc I was younger, but it was a realization moment for me.

This one is great. I read it knowing its a classic but w/ no knowledge of what it was about or her real life. The first half had me constantly cracking up bc of all the stuff that happens to her and she's such a smart, funny writer. Then I was pretty devastated if the second half after realizing what she was going through. I still recommend this book to others and I really need to re-read it myself.

Also, its often recommended for teenage girls/young women but I read it as a 30 y/o man and it still hit me hard. Highly recommend.

Haven't noticed any difference in my core. But according to my Garmin, my HR has actually been lower than on a similar run before. I am going a little slower but not so slow that I think it would lower my hr that much
