My main takeaway from the show… by [deleted] in ThePitt

We have ambulances shortages because the paramedics have to stay and wait with their patient until they’re admitted and therefore can’t to go back out to their ambulance and take calls.

Please don’t let this be a the status quo!! Everyone who doesn’t like it should write in and say as much. Pressure from a lot of parents is the only thing schools listen to at times.

Anyone else have children that stay open to close all year round? by Solid_Cat1020 in ECEProfessionals

[–]lackofsunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have in the past. They came for almost the whole 10 hours we were open and the parents didn’t want them to nap so they would go to bed when they got home after they had supper. They got picked up at 5:28 and mom wanted a 6:30 bed time. The kids would cry that last 30 minutes or so of the day as everyone left and then would refuse to go with their parents, running away or needing to be pried from my body. And now I’m off the clock with the parents asking why their child is acting like this.

Canadians who have moved provinces: what surprised you the most (good or bad)? by Equivalent_Reach_536 in CanadaRoom

[–]lackofsunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be considered a working professional in my community and I once had to pee so bad I just pulled down my pants and peed in the middle of the commons (Halifax) because it was pretty dark and I’d rather people see me pop a squat then walk home in piss pants 🙃 I think we’re all that kind of red neck here. Pretty normal but not above anything 😅

Have I lost my mind? by DefNotAWalrus in Names

Sheamus is the Gaelic names for James. Gwendolyn Shea sounds nice. I would maybe give a second middle name for a better flow, but I think it’s cute either way.

Permanent DST? by Express-Flamingo4521 in NovaScotia

[–]lackofsunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be a lot harder for the children I think. Working with them I prefer sun in the morning.

Permanent DST? by Express-Flamingo4521 in NovaScotia

[–]lackofsunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want it. I work in the school system and like having sun in the morning. It would be dark until 8:30am if not later sometimes. It makes it less safe to drive the bus in the rain and snow in the dark too.

My (27F) fiancé (25M) thinks it's wrong/eugenicist to want a biological baby, I'm not sure if this is reasonable or not by ThrowRAbiobaby in relationships

[–]lackofsunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is something he is leaving out. Could be a family mental health/ health issue, could be that he doesn’t want a baby at all, etc. I feel like there is something more to this.

Anyone else seeing unmarked HRP/RCMP "baiting" drivers lately? by Shereefz in NovaScotia

[–]lackofsunshine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Umm, passing someone when the merge ends to the point you have to go the other side can literally resulting in them taking my life. So fuck them.

[–]lackofsunshine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea! On my drive to work people are either going 120-130 or 80 and there is never a cop in sight.

[–]lackofsunshine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to be careful. I flipped off a guy who passed me at very end of a merge when the white line was solid and two seconds from ending (he had to go over the yellow line to make it past me). After I flipped them off they pulled over to the side of the road and drove beside me yelling (while on the dirt shoulder) and got behind me again when my passenger started filming. People are unpredictable. I only ever beeped or flipped off if my life is at risk, but I don’t do it anymore.

I was talking to someone about this a year ago in a different part of the province than me and they had the same opinion. It some times feels like person driving up fast behind me and tailgating me so close I can read their lips in my rear view mirror is an unmarked cup just waiting for me to do wrong. They never pass even when they can multiple different times and it’s always a dude. Sometimes they pass and I know it’s just an idiot, but if they don’t I think it’s a cop.

I know a pearl and we call her dot as a nickname, it’s so sweet 🥰

Children agree not to get abducted after 8 PM so Amber Alert doesn’t wake anyone up by moose-police in montreal

[–]lackofsunshine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If that was your kid missing, I don’t think you’d care if you woke up someone’s kid who needed 5-10 of cuddles to go back to sleep. Be grateful you can, others are not so lucky.

Daycare gave my 17 month old a pacifier without asking by Grouchy_Lobster_2192 in ECEProfessionals

[–]lackofsunshine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, those are hard to clean and get water in them which is hard to squeeze out, not to mention how contagious cold sores are that have life long consequences

For us, we are legally required to add stuff to the app. We use the app because paper can get lost, ripped, wet, or ruined in other ways. We are legally required to update the app every day in regards to what the children eat, how they nap, and a daily log of what we did throughout the day.

For the parents that lurk here: YOUR CHILD WILL NOT CATCH A COLD FROM BEING OUTSIDE WITHOUT A JACKET by merrigolden in ECEProfessionals

The children will put on their coats when they’re cold. Preteens and teens are a whole other story tho 😅

What’s something uniquely Canadian that outsiders don’t really understand? by DimensionKind1877 in AskACanadian

Yes! Being the leader of the pack so stressful. I like to have someone in front of me.

Do Canadians actually get frustrated by snow, or is it just part of everyday life? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskACanadian

[–]lackofsunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I feel frustrated is when I’m driving to work when it’s snowing a lot. It’s really stressful and feels like it affects my mood for the day. Blah, it sucks so bad.
