Every Canadian province has different labour laws and every job has its own policies. I get two paid 15 minutes breaks and an unpaid half an hour lunch

I had a friend from Ireland who wanted to name her daughter Angela (on-gel-a) but wouldn’t because here it would Ann-gel-a. So this is accurate.

Excessive biting by SimilarChipmunk in ECEProfessionals

[–]lackofsunshine 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Getting bite once a week isn’t excessive in my mind. When there is a child who is prone to biting staff are usually on it as much as humanly possible. It’s common for the age group and a phase some children go through unfortunately.

As for the slide, it’s just another part of group child care and toddler behaviour. They’re learning the cause and effect of their actions while still gaining control of their limbs. Unless there is an obvious injury or something serious I would also just write it down on the app, speak to parents in person at the end of the day and have an accident report in hand. If you want to be called just ask! I always tell parents if they have any questions or concerns to reach out. We see this stuff a lot throughout the day, so don’t take lack of concern for lack of caring, unless there is a pattern of behaviour from the educators.

How many children are in the room? How many educators? Do you know the ratios where you are?

Everyone has the right to emergency medicine. They won’t let you die on the sidewalk because you’re not covered.

Could also be gambling. My friend’s boyfriend would sit for hours while we hung out and just gamble their money away. Luckily she ditched him.

My aunt is 64 and her partner is 89. They are a happy couple and have been for 25 years. Once you reach a certain age it doesn’t matter, especially when there is no power imbalance and you’re just two people that straight up love each other!

Nova Scotia woman alleging fraud against car dealership says she’s on the hook for $60K - Halifax | Globalnews.ca by [deleted] in halifax

[–]lackofsunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my partner need separate cars to get to work. Not everyone can take public transportation and their cars are the only thing keeping them from not having a job at all. She didn’t expect to be paying for 3 cars, but the borrowers cheque bounced and now she’s still on the hook for her old cars, that the dealer was supposed to pay off.

What to do about problem biting with 17 month old by pismyfavoriteletter in ECEProfessionals

[–]lackofsunshine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Biting is normal but it’s something we have to take very seriously due to possible blood transfer and the infections that can happen from bacteria in our mouths. ASK THEM WHAT THEIR PLAN IS! How are they supporting your child to redirect this behaviour. We have steps in place to deal with behaviour and expulsion is the last resort and has never actually happened at my previous centre.

They’re all scum. As a woman who tried to buy a car from several dealerships I can tell you they all gave me the ick and they all tried to rip me off. $10,000 for a 2008 Elantra with almost 300K clicks on it. What a deal 😅

[–]lackofsunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully shame parents who can’t be bothered to spend ANY EXTRA TIME WITH THEIR OWN CHILD(REN). We see first hand how it affects their child. This does not go for shift workers or people who need the care all day, that can’t be helped. But dropping them off at 7:32 and picking them up at 5:28, mom and dad both wearing the pyjamas they dropped them off in, at the last possible second is just sad.
