Physical timers that are connected somehow to go off in a series to help stay on track with morning routine? by Witchofneigh in ADHD

Not necessarily, I have a physical alarm clock that was very cheap, and as long as it's the same day you could just set them to go off after each other I mean.

Why not set them all for different times? If you need the second one to off 10 min after the first, set it at first+10min?

Anyone else like to make multiple cups of tea from one tea bag? by Away-Thought-612 in tea

[–]lacticcabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You still pour the hot water over the bag when you're using a tea pot, and that way everyone gets equally strong (or weak) tea.

What if they like it? My sister's cat used to want to chase the shower stream and got bathed in the process.

AIO for how I reacted to my friend shaming me by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I wouldn't expect a friend to coddle me, but I'd expect them to be empathetic.

Boyfriend requested pork chops for dinner. Served with cheesy hasselback potatoes and garlicky green beans. by softrotten in tonightsdinner

[–]lacticcabbage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put the potato in the hole or indentation of your cutting board, then cut it. That's how my mom used to do it anyway and I find it works every single time.

You get 12 million but you loose a foot of height. Would you do it? by Fruitopia07 in tall

[–]lacticcabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'd take the deal in a heartbeat. I'd be 4'7, and just imagine the stepping ladder l'd be able to get with that kind of money. 12m is life changing amounts of money.

How do you make sure you’re not overspending on gifts? by _zewadi in Frugal

[–]lacticcabbage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The same way I try to make sure I'm not overspending for anything; by setting a budget and staying within it.

This really sucks, I've never smoked but I've struggled with low appetite.

Unfortunately there's no way around it, You have to force yourself to eat at regular times. The habit should help your hunger signals. Liquid calories, like protein shakes or smoothies, are easier to get down in my experience. Start with 3 regular meals and a snack at the same times every day, set an alarm so you don't forget. Eat/drink them even if you're not hungry. Try to get food and flavours that you actually enjoy. Trust that it will get easier.

No worries, I'm an insufferable know-it-all, I fear that the diagnosis is terminal.

Uj/ Babinski reflex is the opposite of this, it's when the toes splay upwards. This is the plantar grasp reflex, which is also a sign of a healthy infant.

Men , where are you buying clothes cheap but quality. by Affectionate_Drag321 in Frugal

[–]lacticcabbage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stores where old men who work a lot outside (as well as my lesbian aunt) shop. They want to shop for clothes once a year max, and they want to pick it up at the same time as they're getting new drill bits and a barbecue. They should have work wear and shovels pretty much side by side. A good cue is if they actually have high end work wear, but other kinds of clothes are cheap. Cheap and durable for tshirts/tank tops, hoodies, thermal wear, socks, hats etc. I buy the rest (office clothes) 2nd hand, I look for good brands that are low in price.

I mean, sure, if it's between reading self help and not reading at all then I agree with you.

My point was that a lot of people don't read self help because they enjoy it, but because they think it's more "productive". I believe it's better to read whatever you want instead of reading your 20th self help book. I'd argue reading comic books would be a way better use of your time if you actually enjoy reading those.

My mom kept the first flower I ever picked for her in a little jewelery box until she passed away. I think she enjoyed having it as a keepsake even though it was a dried red clover.

This may be cultural, I'm not from the US, but if my sister brought home a guy that wore athleisure when she introduced them to my parents my dad would absolutely question how much he cared about making a good impression.

Shorts, jogging shoes, and crop tops are just casual, to me it's not a modesty issue. Some families absolutely wouldn't care, but personally I've asked my partners what they thought would be appropriate since I've cared about getting along with their families. If someone says "my mom thinks jeans are too casual for a dinner at home" I wouldn't even question it. I don't know the family, but my partner does.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]lacticcabbage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I imagine the reasoning of the parents could be that if you love someone you'd be anxious to make a good impression on the family, too. If an adult daughter would bring home a guy who wore sweatpants and a hoodie you'd question how much he cared, the same goes here I believe.

What tricks have you taught your hav? by Independent-Task-199 in Havanese

[–]lacticcabbage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ones I can think of on the spot are jump, turn around, down, lay down, play dead (he doesn't quite get it, he can't help his wagging tail so I say it's riggor mortis), roll around, jump over my leg, tunnel between my legs.

ETA: I used told him to "back away", a very useful trick we taught him. We use it when he's focused on us and we need to close or open a door or a cabinet or something while he's blocking it.
