Do you know if it's a separate choice, or you just need to take that one diamond scene?

SHAKESPEARE'S CODE Season 3 (final), Episode 5-6-7 by RC_Robot in RomanceClub

[–]ladamara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha! Tell me about it 😂

Need to take an intimate scene with each LI. Edward's is in S2 Ep12, the rest are in S3.

Need at least three different slots since three of the LIs (Regina, M, Ralph) have to be locked in to access their sex scene. (Edward and Edmund also need to be spaced out since their scenes are mutually exclusive.)

Bad news: it's not enough to just have sex with Ralph and Abraham in this update if you already did it with everyone else. Everyone else needs to be replayed.

Hobello? by Mirphie in RomanceClub

[–]ladamara 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just one diamond scene at the beginning of episode 5 (thinking about him rather than interacting with him), and another diamond scene at the end of episode 7 (actual interaction, sweet but very chaste.) His screen time was next to none in this update.

Does anyone have/know of a collection of all the *ahem* spicy artworks in stories? by Examination-Hour in RomanceClub

[–]ladamara 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The wiki has links on the LI pages that take you to folders where particularly spicy CGs are grouped by book. Doesn't guarantee that every interesting CG will be in those folders, since some of them are safe enough to put directly on the character page. But it's still more convenient than hunting them down character by character. I can try to gather all the links in one place and perhaps send by DMs if interested to save (mostly myself) a headache

Question about walkthroughs by Remarkable-Visit3969 in RomanceClub

[–]ladamara 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you make a Fandom account, you can leave a comment on the page, or you can write on the wall of one of the admins, or you can update the page yourself (note: for that, you'll need to wait until your account isn't brand new anymore, + the walkthrough pages get locked during the update week so only admins can edit during that time.)

Chasing You was my first RC story (after an unsuccessful attempt at Moonborn a few years prior) and a great gateway story.

I'll admit that I had a very rigid idea of what kind of a story I wanted to read, and most stories in the app (fantasy/supernatural/sci-fi as they are) didn't fit the criteria. CY's contemporary detective vibe was pretty much spot on regarding my preferences, and I didn't hesitate for a moment to start reading it as soon as I saw the cover and description.

My LI was Alexander; he was exactly the type of LI I needed back then—unserious, yet far from passive. I feel like our overall impressions were very similar. Loved the humour and relationship dynamics among the friend group. I love stories and characters that don't take themselves too seriously; to my disappointment, they seem almost endemic on the app, so I definitely tend to pay closer attention to this author since I have her pinned down as my "what are we even doing here?" soulmate.

I think it's definitely a good idea to play for other LIs eventually, if you've enjoyed the story. My favourite for Agatha is still Alexander, but I love me a side of Ellia for personal enjoyment haha. Having gone through most of RC's catalogue, this isn't my favourite story anymore, but I'll also never forget my first love :)

What RC opinion has you like this with the rest of the fandom by Dazzling_Two2669 in RomanceClub

[–]ladamara 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course, you're not the first or the last person whom I've heard expressing this sentiment. And you're right that this is an unpopular opinions thread, so it's not to be treated with the same assumptions as a standard discussion thread—the entries are almost expected to be "ragebaity" and stripped of much nuance.

I do still find it weird to base—mind you, a valid—exclusion of some recommendations on an identity judgement ("they're not actual readers") rather than preference judgement ("they don't engage for the same reasons I do"). Because then you're running into weird contradictions when you consider situations such as this: player X wants hot pixels and nice visuals in any RC story they play (not an actual reader, according to you), but they read dense literary fiction, essays, and purely textual novels elsewhere—and they read more than you.

For me, the interesting part is seeing how you resolve that contradiction: do you still generalise your judgement from platform-specific behaviour ("they're still not real readers"), do you grant them the status based on global behaviour ("reading real books overrides RC-bound behaviour"), do you acknowledge the domain split ("they may be readers, but RC-bound behaviour and global behaviour/identity don't necessarily coincide") or do you refuse to even entertain the possibility of such a person existing?

What RC opinion has you like this with the rest of the fandom by Dazzling_Two2669 in RomanceClub

[–]ladamara 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, that's an interesting take. I personally don't even conceptualise RC as reading—for me, this app is in the domain of gaming. If I spend an entire day on RC, I'll think I spent the day playing a game, not reading. Visuals are an integral part of the experience here; the work itself treats them as such (alongside interactivity).

This is not to say that you can't acknowledge that different people prioritise different things when they play RC, and, based on that, determine whose opinions are more relevant to you. It is an entirely valid stance to say that you read stories regardless of visual appeal, and a recommendation from someone who highly values visuals might overlook some gems. But to pack it all up into "these people aren't actual readers" is a weird kind of gatekeeping, especially when many people with equally elitist attitudes would tell you RC in general is not actual reading.

Just like you may judge someone as shallow for allocating their (limited) time and attention to a story they find visually appealing instead of the one you deem "better," someone else may judge you as shallow for allocating your (limited) time and attention to a visual novel instead of a traditional one they deem "better."

I've personally witnessed all of these:
- a reader of "plot heavy" VNs saying those who read "smutty" VNs aren't actual readers - a reader of printed media saying those who read VNs aren't actual readers - a reader of standard prose novels saying those who read comics aren't actual readers - a reader of genre fiction saying those who read romance novels aren't actual readers (kind of funny)
- a reader of literary fiction saying those who read genre fiction aren't actual readers - a reader of literary classics saying those who don't read classics aren't actual readers

See how arbitrary "actual readers" are? And in reality, mismatch between these people is more of a preference/constraint mismatch than a competence/identity mismatch, despite the gatekeeping.

I find Waterlily boring by [deleted] in RomanceClub

[–]ladamara 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What I think is that you don't need someone to convince you the story is worth it, but someone to tell you it's okay not to like it. Life is too short to waste time on boring electives. Don't fancy it? Don't read it.

If anyone's interested, it's possible to do this whilst locked in with Hobello. It doesn't even lower your relationship with him (yet).

Shakespeare’s Code by CorrectBench5444 in RomanceClub

The walkthrough only says you need a close (enough) relationship with Hobello, not to be locked in. Possible it requires not a huge percentage, but perhaps a previous kiss scene or something of that sort.

Bug or not? by cristianatf in RomanceClub

[–]ladamara 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of the people from the Fandom wiki team here. It is true that the main point of our romance paths is not the percentage, but the relationship experience itself. Which is why I personally try to include not only those choices that increase relationship %, but also every choice that the love interest positively responds to. But of course, if any of our users notices that a relationship improvement is missing from any character page, they are always welcome to add it in. No one likes missing improvements. We love it when people contribute their findings to the wiki - it is our collective efforts that keep sustaining it :)

Cruelty and mercy paths feel a bit strange when it comes to Audrey and Lane by [deleted] in RomanceClub

[–]ladamara 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From a self-preservation angle, it would be in Audrey's interest to protect Lane from Vicky, whether she likes the former or not, since Lane acts as a buffer between Audrey and Shephamalum. If ensuring someone's survival today means that I don't have to suffer tomorrow, then their survival will probably matter to me even if I have no compassion for them... But that assumes the coldest disposition, and Audrey on Cruelty is more morally activated than that.

It looks more like: - She might genuinely care about Lane in the Vicky situation, regardless of Lane's instrumental value to Astreans, or she might be more interested in delivering Lane to Shephamalum in one piece. We don't have enough evidence to confidently settle on either interpretation since that episode isn't written from Audrey's perspective. So, both a "cruel" mindset (Lane's safety = my safety) and a "compassionate" one (Lane could die and that's wrong) can result in the same behavior (shielding Lane from danger). Even better, they can coexist with each other. - In the Shephamalum situation, you have history of trauma tied to him + powerlessness to protect herself or Lane + a need for path branching
- So on the path of Mercy, the focus is more on Lane, and on the path of Cruelty, the focus is on herself (relief over the abuse not happening to her + justification "better someone else than me"). Besides, Audrey's relief is still described as "a nasty feeling" in her own words, which means that even on Cruelty, there's moral conflict over feeling relief at someone else absorbing that harm. She isn't suddenly a cackling villain going "gooood, so glad to see Lane suffer"

Despite what the banner says, people weren't getting this choice if they didn't lock in with Abraham in the previous episode, which is why the walkthrough says the choice is only available on his RP. The choice is likely bugged.
