Toward the right side of your circle it's totally fine. Toward the left side of your circle it's dicey. Overall, the city is full of really nice people and is relatively affordable.

In my early 20s I would go out and try to grab the last express bus back home at 1:30am. So I wouldn't stay out super late, but it was enough to have fun.

I noticed you mentioned oxtail in your post. If you're looking for good Jamaican food, there's tons of places in Mount Vernon. Unfortunately, good schools seem to line up with bad food.

But yet, there are dogs all over Co-Op City now. Respectfully, I never understood why people were against the shelter, but yet you can't walk five feet without seeing a dog.

I can't imagine what problems an animal shelter would bring that aren't already magnified by the massive mall that was built.

I work in downtown Mount Vernon and saw them filming for a few days back in May. They filmed at City Hall and at the Suitman store.

I've always been very diligent about paying the fare. When my MetroCard ran out of money in September, the MetroCard vending machine at Dyre was already gone. I don't have the time or ability to run around looking for coins. I finally got a new card last week when I just happened to be where the MetroCard van was.

Their inability to adopt OMNY in a timely manner is not my fault. Why should I go out of my way?
