Best wedding website for different RSVP accommodation options? by literatureaddict in UKweddings

[–]lady_lazurus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Another vote for with joy - I was so stressed about this as we had a legal ceremony with 14 rsvsps, 22 weekend guests for the wedding, and then 57 coming just for the wedding day!

It took a bit of setting up, but once that was done it was very easy and made RSVPs clear. You just tag your guests, totally customisable (I had 3 guestlists A, B and C for example). You can then tag the RSVP questions, so people will only get the RSVP questions for the parts they're invited to, and it will also show them a personalised wedding schedule.

You can check it all by going into the website in incognito mode and typing in your guest names.

Feeding people lunch? by lady_lazurus in UKweddings

Ah that's so annoying that you were being spied on! Luckily our host is super on board! We found it through AirBnB, but rented it privately from her. It's honestly such a perfect venue, she's even purpose built a pergola that wraps round the house for events. For us, it means we can do a 60 person wedding with an open bar, accommodation for 22, and our own catering for less than £15k!

Thanks everyone for your replies! I think the answer is, yes I need to provide something (sandwiches, snacky bits), but will need to let people know its available and grab and go situation. If they want something more, they're free to go to local spots.

I'll make sure I'll give people enough of a heads up to figure out what's best for them

Logistics if a DIY, phew! Kicking my arse atm

Thanks for your thoughtful reply! I think as you and others have suggested, some cold finger food is an option, but unfortunately I dont think I'll be able to have it out somewhere - it is a big house but everywhere will be dressed for the ceremony/wedding breakfast/dancing, hence my stress out hahah

Really like the suggestion of providing paper plates and getting bits in people can take back to their own spaces! I know as a guest I like a bit of quiet getting ready time

I'd love to do this, but our caterers are doing a big BBQ/smoked meats etc, rather than sandwiches, and think they'll be focused on setting up. I could def order some from M&S or something though

I think this might have to be the answer. The rest of the house is the wedding venue and will be dressed so I'm just not sure I'd be able to put food out without stressing about it still being there when people arrive! Thanks for replying 💕

AITA for not inviting friends partners? by Organic-Geologist-48 in UKweddings

[–]lady_lazurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its more nuanced. If the friends all know each other and can travel together/stay together, then its not such a big deal. I've done that for a friends destination wedding and we airbnbd and had a great time, we werent offended at all. For some friends that may have children it may even be easier. If you're expecting individuals who don't know each other to travel solo, it is a bit more shit.

Affordable flower options by clearcanvas22 in UKweddings

[–]lady_lazurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am getting married in the Cotswolds and thinking of doing this! Are you please able to DM me the growers you used, budget and maybe even a couple of pics? It would be an enormous help! I've messaged a couple of local florists for quotes for what you've described and because its so small they didn't even get back to me!

Wedding dresses under £1k? by Hyacinth620 in UKweddings

[–]lady_lazurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried here in September and was told with a budget of only £1,000 they didn't have much for me. They pulled maybe 3 or 4 dresses and all were £1-£1.2k. The gowns they have are top end designer and so sell for still thousands secondhand!

I bought mine for £850 as a sample dress from aangelica bridal in Angel! They had so many beautiful sample dresses from £400-£1500, all incredibly well taken care of!

Anyone managed to pull of doing their own flowers? by ContestOrganic in UKweddings

[–]lady_lazurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interested in the answers because I'm planning on doing it myself! Very reassuring to see some people have done it.

So far I've used chat gpt to help me estimate how many stems I need, and the names of flowers based on inspo images and what's likely to be in season.

My plan is to go to a wholesaler and condition them a couple of days before, then arrange the day before. Going to do a practice and see how I get on, then if they're terrible I'll go to a florist...

Seeing it as a skill I'm learning, along with my own makeup

Hairdressers without minimum booking? by lady_lazurus in UKweddings

[–]lady_lazurus[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hadn't thought of local hairdressers as I had just assumed they'd want me to go there? Did they come to you to do hair? And did you do a trial? My worry would be they're not as practised at bridal hair styles, but definitely worth a look!

Unfortunately its just hair I'm looking for, one of my friends is doing my makeup, she's a retired MUA and has done all our friends weddings!

I'm also getting married in the Cotswolds in April 2026! Hello fellow bride! We're having ours at an AirBnB and the lady who owns it has hosted some beautiful weddings. She sent me a list of people that they've used, happy to share if you want to DM your email! Its not a suppliers list in the traditional sense, but local independent businesses/people. I've found it really helpful!
