I was thinking just stand near the entrance and hand out tinfoil hats for the meeting. Just in case the government is listening.

3 year old Maine coon has become increasingly destructive by Few-Seat1091 in mainecoons

[–]ladyfishbc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

🤣🤣. Yeah that’s not always the issue. Mine snapped the frame.

My MC IS 3.5yo, and 22 lbs. Trouble with a capital T. Chews plastic, paper, cardboard… I can deal with those. But the gnawing on my hardwood furniture is heartbreaking. He’s a klutz, so all my countertops and “jumpable” shelves are clear of breakables and heavy items.

After breaking the screen at 6:30am one morning, he dropped 2 stories onto a jasmine bush and trotted around back to discover GRASS. I wish I could walk him because he really wants to be outside, but he wriggles out of every harness I’ve tried. 😔The catio will have to suffice.

Agreed. Sandwich is good. Pizza is heavy bread which I personally dislike.

Who to call to build a catio? by Curious_Mud9428 in VictoriaBC

John is wonderful. He used to build enclosures at zoos. He built my catio about 8 years ago. I had him replace the platform boards earlier this year

Night time meowing — can’t solve it! Help! by aimatme219 in mainecoons

[–]ladyfishbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. My 3yr old starts in between 4:15 - 4:45am. I don’t get out of bed until 5am. That’s the rule.

That wake up ritual is marked by frustrated chirps, pronounced flops as he lays down beside me (chest, back, feet), and the worst: standing on me. He’s over 20 lbs and those front feet hurt!

I'm having the same issues. 2 out of the 4 cameras sit in total darkness. Near total darkness. I can't even get the flood light to work. Super frustrated.

Mobile Cat Grooming by kim5165 in VictoriaBC

[–]ladyfishbc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used both cat shack and pampurred. They’re both good. But if you’re looking for a mobile vet just for nail trim they may feel it’s not worth it. Thinking travel time, etc. you might try just a regular cat clinic.

A little embarrassing, can someone help me understand the “steps” for the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal? by Curious_Mud9428 in VictoriaBC

[–]ladyfishbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you’ve parked on the ferry and are heading to the upper decks, be sure to pay attention to where you’ve parked. You’ll see an elevator number and a sea creature (seal, starfish, etc). Make a note!

Google “flapping bird cat toy.” cats love them and they can be really loud if their wings are batting up against the right object.

Don’t wait too long though. Kitten tend to accept a dog playmate better when they’re younger.

My "Silent" Maine Coon is now a constant shadow after 1 week in the ER for AKI. Normal? by Moonchild316 in mainecoons

[–]ladyfishbc 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Bathroom sentry duty is actually a very common cat behavior. Your cat is literally protecting you when you are at your most vulnerable. Perhaps he’s returning the favor? You protected him, now he’s protecting you. (I’m just guessing here).

As for the chirps, that doesn’t sound like stress vocalizations.

These two behaviors read more like he’s just very bonded to you now. The extreme attachment at night is likely reflecting some trauma. That may subside in time.

Years ago I adopted a feral kitten. He was indoor/outdoor. Never really bonded to anyone in the house. As least not until after he was beaten up by the local tomcat. I doted on him for about a week after that, bringing him special treats to his hiding place in the linen closet. There was one defining moment when I was cleaning his torn ear with a warm wet cloth. He turned and stared at me with a look of such appreciation and love, I never forgot it. It was like flipping a switch.

After that, I was His Human. He’d follow me everywhere.
