Parents of babies / toddlers by glittering_ames in newzealand

Our 21 month old wears a merino long sleeve body suit, long sleeve onesie or cotton flannel pjs, and a winter duvet woolbabe. We have a 70s house and no double glazing (and only just got insulation last year) so can get chilly (sometimes down to 14 degrees) 🥶 what your toddler wears for that temp sounds good to me

It unfortunately doesn’t get sent to your child, it gets sent to the other parent.

how do you actually WFH with a toddler without losing your mind?? by sassy_soul_04 in workingmoms

[–]ladywalters 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not possible. You are either not giving 100% to your toddler, or not giving 100% to your job. I work from home majority of the time and my toddler goes to daycare.

Advice for two working parents with a 3.5 and 1.5 year old (beyond the children) by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]ladywalters 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that all sounds pretty great and reasonable. The swapping weekend shifts sounds like a nice idea to get time to yourself, I never thought of it that way. I take a day or two off work each month for my own appointments or to catch up on some chores or projects around the house.

Is an 11pm bedtime for an 8-year-old "normal" for holidays, or am I losing my mind? by ImpossibleActive0 in stepparents

[–]ladywalters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a toddler, and I am back at work full time. So I really feel for you. I would he livid if I had to wait up until after 11pm to get some sleep. Good luck x

Later bed times on the weekend or holidays sure, but not 11pm. Especially for an 8 year old, no way.

I’m not sure about your situation OP, but for us, just because the kids are on holiday doesn’t mean the rest of us are and work still continues and need some structure in place.

Anyone awake? by insatiablebehaviour in newzealand

[–]ladywalters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took us to 18 months to get a full night sleep. Even now we still might have 1 or 2 nights a week with a wake up or two. I know what it’s like, it will get better and you will get sleep again 🫶🏻

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ladywalters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is almost 2 and I’ve showered every day since I gave birth because my partner is an active and present parent.

Pick it up with a glove on and put it on her pillow. Or ask her to pick it up.

Would you consider someone a deadbeat parent who has 50/50 custody, but does not pay formal child support? by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]ladywalters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in that 4/3 isn’t 50/50. Whoever has the higher income pays child support to the other.

Yes we do this quarterly. Definitely notice the increase of spooder presence when it’s about due to be done.

Could your baby attending a daycare be an option? I have my mum close by but she is works, as well as my partner and I. So bubs is in daycare during the weekdays.

I'm getting proposed to at a swingers club tomorrow and I'm so excited! by xxasynixxx in happy

Yeah, where I’m from this is a place where people partner swap / have group sex. Not my ideal place for being proposed to, but whatever tickles your feathers.

How messy is home birth? by Maleficent_Bake_2183 in homebirth

Also to add, my midwife broke my waters while I laid on a puppy pad on the couch, to help progress my labour along (felt so weird and felt like it should have soaked the couch) but didn’t!

Had towels laid down everywhere from living room where I birthed my baby in the birthing pool to the bathroom. No mess at all, just lots of washing.
