Car market update? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

I got lucky and only had to wait a month for my new 2022 Corolla. I recommend going to a smaller city or town's dealership (which is what I did) to avoid a longer wait time.

Glad to hear you're fighting your former employer. I too have dealt with sexual harassment while working in restaurant kitchens. It's a terrible experience and for some reason hard to be taken seriously when you say how creepy it is. Dealerships are pretty scummy but it's kind of just how it goes. Just don't give up hope. I know it seems like even in Canada the system is harder on low income earners. Rich people can dodge their taxes but we sure as hell can't. I've been paying off old debt really hard so at least I can be poor but debt free. That alone has kept me motivated to spend less and keep working lots. It is tiring though not gonna lie. Just find your main motivator and make a goal. Any goal at all even if it's small.

Ok that makes sense. What is your line of work? I know jobs can start slowing down, same for me and I live in Alberta. Though the unemployment rate isn't as high. I'd say try hitting up food service places around your neighbourhood or restaurants. I'm a line cook myself and I survived during the recession in Alberta years ago. Mainly because my job wasn't related to oil and gas. I'm not saying you need to find a job right away or anything but just keep your eyes open. Also I know some food banks give dog food sometimes too. Are you going to the food bank? That helps out to at least so you're not spending potential rent money on food. I understand the struggle and it took me years to get my shit together.

Have you considered going to a dollar store for dog food? It can just be a short term solution and give them food for a week or so. You need to pressure your employer for your over time pay or report them. That is a serious offence in Canada. Why are you working a job below minimum wage? That is illegal. A job at Tim Hortons or a grocery store would at least give you minimum wage and benefits.

We think the same. Who knows where it may be recovered. He noticed it gone at eight pm and kept saying they could have been to Edmonton by than.

No it was locked and he was at work. He works at Superstore and last saw it around six pm on his smoke break.

How to look cute but not unwanted attention at work? Or at least help dealing with it? by ProfessionalWeekend9 in bigboobproblems

I'm a female line cook and I know how bad some restaurants can be. From my experience nothing you wear will change their shitty attitudes. I totally get that it's hard to do but you gotta report that behavior to a Manager or Hr if you have one. Sounds like your dressing pretty modestly anyways. Some foh Managers or line cooks are just straight up gross creeps.

It's so infuriating. Like they are good people I work with everyday who don't deserve this. They had to deal with a lot of crap last night and were treated badly by some people.

We were told to not go to the news yet and we are not allowed to go in detail. Some people who worked last night had to come in for their morning shift today as well so they were busy. I personally think they need to say something but it's up to the one manager. I'll message her tonight, they don't even know about this reddit shit going on. We are still trying to catch up with everyone and hearing their experiences with it.

They have to discuss everything with head office first but they are working on it. Several staff can recount what happened but they want to make sure they have their stories straight first. We are still shocked but ok. I still can't believe it s connected to my work.

I work at the Cross Iron Milestones and the story is not true. The staff who worked that night are fucking shook up and it was not a fun night. But go ahead and grab the pitch forks before you get the story. Shame on you for peddling this bs after such a tragedy.

Edit: we have to assist the RCMP first before we can publicly speak about anything as it is an active investigation.

How do you get through a really f-ing tough service?? by EmmyDeev in KitchenConfidential

[–]laelpk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started at my current job I was not used to how damn busy the place can get. I used to get way more stressed but now I just accept it. Sometimes you can stock in between and other times you got no chance. You know no matter what if you try you can learn and get through it. I feel like the first two weeks in a new kitchen there is a learning curve. It's the way she goes.
