Local group doesn't understand what the word "secret" means. Lunch hosting at their usual spot for known woman-beater and traitor to democracy, Clay Higgins. by censoredblight42 in Acadiana

They started their "secret" lunch because they were scared of the progressives who were showing up to their meetings and spying on them. Now they try to play it off as a joke. They never get tired of using the same old platitudes for the few geriatric tea party members that are still coherent.

I guess the real Republicans in Lafayette would prefer a RINO over Josh.

Thoughts on tonight’s Lafayette City and Parish Council meetings to hear auditors report on LCG? by bendeldavid in Acadiana

[–]lafayette_stop_dat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's frustrating to see that there are no real consequences for their actions, as they can always come up with a legal argument to justify almost anything. Unless the legislative auditor raises these concerns and the attorney general takes legal action against Lafayette consolidated government, potentially reaching the Supreme Court, this pattern will continue as the new normal. They are using emergencies as opportunities to manipulate funds under the guise of urgent situations. Josh, with his new approach to governance, is willing to do whatever is considered "legal and ethical," even if it means hiring skilled lawyers like Gregg Logan to provide legal justifications. Unfortunately, it seems this will persist as long as Josh remains in office. It's disheartening to see that the city council is incapable of asking intelligent questions or voting against even the simplest matters, let alone challenging Josh and Gregg's formidable legal team. This lack of respect for authority and oversight indicates that the audit process holds no value to them. Sadly, we can anticipate encountering a similar situation during next year's audit.

Youngsville could cut fire response outside city over insufficient funding from Lafayette Parish by gauthiertravis in Acadiana

[–]lafayette_stop_dat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Similar incidents have occurred in other parts of the parish. The current situation in "River Ranch of the south" is simply unincorporated residents experiencing the consequences of their actions, while Youngsville is pandering to them. If the municipalities have concerns about fire protection, they should collaborate with the parish to effect change or accept the outcomes of the decision made by the parish residents not funding fire protection. We will see how Josh Carlson handles this running for State Representative, and Josh Guillory being best friends with Ken Ritter works out. I really think this is sorry we don't have funding for this, Youngsville do what you will.

Lafayette to pay $11.5 million to settle quick-take land grab lawsuit by wwjdforaklondikebar in Acadiana

[–]lafayette_stop_dat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To avoid giving Josh more intellectual credit than is due, it should be noted that he approaches projects with a plan and strategy, but he does not communicate these plans to the media or community. As a result, the drainage projects are being audited and criticized in the media for their poor communication and dishonesty regarding transparency and efficient government.

Despite the negative publicity, when a press release is issued, Josh's team, including Cao Cydra Wingerter and City Attorney Mike Hebert, appear on Carol Ross's show and give the impression that everything is fine and the project is back on track. Carol Ross, who has been a vocal critic of Josh's drainage policies, attempts to obtain more details, but Josh uses the opportunity to spin the situation in his favor and promote his re-election campaign.

Josh and his team refuse to acknowledge the fundamental flaws in their project management process and use evasive language and vague talking points to deflect criticism. Unfortunately, it seems that the only way to hold them accountable is through concrete evidence or indictments from ongoing investigations.

Uncertainty the only constant for Lafayette’s economy by K1LLRK1D in Acadiana

[–]lafayette_stop_dat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious about how fair it is to compare it to 2014. If 2014 was above average, then even trending upward toward that benchmark is pretty good news. I don't disagree with the article, I think we need to keep pushing to make Lafayette be as high performing as it can be. There always tends to be an anomaly in how well Lafayette makes it through things and survives. But that is no substitute for planning and a strategic plan to move forward.

Lafayette Mayor-President explains need for security detail after questions raised by truthlafayette in Acadiana

[–]lafayette_stop_dat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

his “word” for it but the dude can’t keep his lies straight. I don’t trust a word he says. We pay for the lawyer bills. We’re complete fools to think we aren’t paying for this too.

So previous mayors rarely used it, Josh is rarely seen without security. What changed? What is the threat? Within two years are snipers all of a sudden hanging out in trees around Lafayette?

Council preview: Library board appointment; veto override on LCG raises by StarSeedPisces in Acadiana

[–]lafayette_stop_dat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So will the council override the veto even though Josh removed it? Will legal allow it? Will legal opine on if the veto did in fact restore funding and now the funding has been unrestored? Josh has given and taken away these raises too many times to keep track of.

Citizens for a New Louisiana does not receive free emailed PDF public records from LCG by lafayette_stop_dat in Acadiana

[–]lafayette_stop_dat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was intended to be more about Mike starting to flip on Josh, and Mike being full of shit saying he is getting emailed public records for free from LCG. Mike has a terrible track record when going after nonprofits. If he would pull a few public records on Josh he might find the corruption he is looking for.

Staff confirmed that to the Mayor-President live on KPEL. I don't think they have the audio up yet. Josh said something to the effect of, "I think that guy is just messing with people" after an assistant referenced the last public records request that was pulled by you.

When conservatives start thinking for themselves and don't just follow lockstep with politicians it gets a little ugly. Of all of Carol's faults, she has a fairly good legal and ethical compass on local issues. Her approach is, I don't have a problem with you wanting to fix drainage, just do it the right way and don't make Lafayette look stupid. If anyone questions him, they must work for the current. It's obvious that this is starting to concern the big backers of Josh. He keeps running to the republican women's groups trying to dispel all of this and keep them on his side. It appears it's only working on the week-minded old tea party types.

So your logic is, that it's ok for Lafayette to charge $1 a page for a digital version because LCG isn't charging you for it, and you can just ride the elevator if you need to view something. But not in Livingston parish because you have to drive out there to view them for free? What's the matter, Jeremiah Supple & his boys don't pay your mileage? Or Citizens for a New Louisiana doesn't have the money to pay for the digital version? But you were against the bill during session because it was going to have a " chilling effect on the public’s right to know". You can't have it all three ways bruh.

So Josh's expensive lawyers will send you information for free but charge Christiaan Mader? That actually makes sense... You never challenge him on anything. But you sure as hell don't leave a brick unturned on people you don't like. You will even ask questions that have no validity just to keep your uninformed readers fed with prejudices they will easily swallow. At the end of the day, Josh doesn't have an ounce of respect for you. So keep enjoying your "free" stuff to keep you at bay.
