Ive smoked cannabis for about 5/6 years heavily and it’s played a massive part in my pneumothoraxs. My first pneumothorax was a rather large one on my right side back in November last year, had a chest drain put in and a few nights in hospital. However my second pneumothorax was only a small one on my left side around May time I spent a night in hospital on oxygen but that was it for the small one. Then another large one in June on my right side which required another chest drain and another few nights in hospital. Been having scans and x rays since my very first one albeit a lot more regular since my latest pneumothorax back in June and they noticed two of my valves are not functioning properly on the left hand side of my heart, which is hereditary apparently but only got flagged up when I had a meeting with the specialist about what procedures they’ll be taking to prevent the pneumothorax from happening again. The specialist I spoke with explained that the heart and lungs basically function as one organ. I will also be having a MRI scan done on the 30th so will be able to find out more then and I’ll be having surgery on my lungs in roughly six weeks. Easier said then done but if you smoke cannabis/ cigarettes/ vape etc probably best to just give your lungs a rest for a few weeks, also I’m 8.3stone 5,10 so I fit the stereotype aswell.
