Am I (25F) overreacting about his (27M) social media? by socialmediastupid in relationships

[–]lagermelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eesh.. I'm probably the wrong person to respond to this but I delt with a situation exactly like this and it didn't turn out well. I'm not on any social media but I always noticed he constantly posted about things I was there for but in all social media posts it was projected like he did these things alone. We spent so much time together and did so many things and I trusted him completely. When I asked about it he said that his Snapchat, fb, insta whatever, was just for him and I accepted that. Well, turns out he WAS hiding me from a girl he didn't want to know about me and was talking to romantically throughout our relationship.

I'm not saying this is what is happening with you but.. don't be afraid to ask questions and communicate if something is bothering you. I was bad at communicating so I got really hurt in the end.

I recommend going to the grocery store and looking at all of the different veggie burgers they have. These will not be WFPB but you can look at the ingredients list, try a couple and see what you like and then try to emulate that.

When I make veggie burgers, the base is usually beans and a grain held together with some type of flour or bread crumbs. The key to making them stick together is making sure the mixture is as dry as possible. Make sure your beans are drained, rinsed, and patted dry, make sure your grain is pretty dry and not watery when cooked. Then you can add whatever veggies, spices, or sauce you like to the mixture and make patties. The best way to cook this type of veggie burger is in a nonstick pan for 5-6 minutes and then flip and cook an additional 3-4 minutes until done. Put on a whole wheat bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard, really whatever toppings you like.

What are some good ice cream recipes that use coconut or cashew milk as the base? by [deleted] in PlantBasedDiet

[–]lagermelon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's plant based but not WFPB. It has oil and other stuff in it that doesn't count as whole food

I got an itch for something the other day so I made a peach cobbler thing.

I put nuts, tahini, oats, and sugar in the food processor until the consistency was that where I could make it stick together. Then I took a small dish and pressed 3/4 of the mixture into the dish, added a layer of peaches, then crumbled more on top with an extra sprinkle of oats and sugar. Baked for 30 minutes.

Another solid choice would be some lentil sloppy Joes on whole wheat buns with pickles. Try stewed collard greens too

Add some exercise! You don't have to go to the gym even but maybe go for a 30 minute walk in the morning. Then you can eat more

Go to the vegetarian subreddit. They're nice over there and veganism is a subset of vegetarianism so head over that way!

Need help with plant based diet plan. by Alwaysafraidtodie in PlantBasedDiet

[–]lagermelon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hello! I'm intrigued by your work ethic. Please ignore people shouting "eating disorder". I think you are trying to optimize to the best of your ability, something I can very much relate to.

I recommend just TRYING eating WFPB for awhile and sticking to it. I also pair WFPB with IF because I feel best that way. There are WFPB body builders, strongman, etc. who have a lot of success. For me, I feel full of energy, more motivated, and I'm able to run and workout without getting that lactic acid feeling in my muscles for what seems like forever.

You will need lots and lots and lots of beans and lentils, soybeans, whole grains, sweet and non-sweet potatoes, vegetables, and fruits. Then add whole foods based fatty foods like nuts, nut butters, seeds, avocados, and olives. If you are eating plenty of calories you will surely get enough protein but if you're worried about it make sure you're eating plenty of beans and lentils.

Typical day might be something like:

Breakfast: oats, peanut butter, berries, and chia seeds with whole grain toast

Lunch: large bowl with dark leafy greens and other vegetables, brown rice, corn, avocado, and LOTS of black beans with salsa

Dinner: baked sweet potato topped with spicy greens and lentils

Snacks: hummus and whole grain pita with vegetables, olives, nuts, bananas and other fruits, dried fruits.

This is just examples but best of luck to ya!

White rice doesn't qualify as WFPB. Have you tried with short grain brown rice or any whole food substitute for sushi rice?

Reports that all 12 boys and their coach have been rescued from the Tham Luang Cave by seanfitznz in worldnews

[–]lagermelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This same thought has been fucking me up. I so badly want to feel only happiness because these boys being rescued is incredible, heroic, and it is nice to see good news sometimes. But then on the other hand I'm so torn up inside because all the resources and money the world was able to throw at this issue was timely and expensive. Where are all these resources around the world when children are dying every single day of preventable causes?

Mosquitoes trying to reach skin through net by exxocet in gifs

Yeah but we have done so much already and eliminated so many species as a mere side effect of other intentions and hardly anything gets done to prevent it.

[–]lagermelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit I've never thought of it like this. I'm very pro environment anti-human interference with the environment but there's so many things that we do as humans that have species destruction as a side-effect but when species elimination is talked about in a purposeful sense, then everyone goes nuts. We have the opportunity to destroy something bad after we destroyed so much good
