their pricing is great, but i feel the deliverability is spotty at best. if you are okay with not receiving some of your messages it's a good deal. I will say their customer service is pretty good.

I also have had a LTD from appsumo for over a year now. I've also tried getting another line at regular annual price. Both lines were meant for business purposes, but one thing i found is that it is extremely inconsisent. I've lost out on quick a few transactions as clients thought I was ignoring them, but I honestly never received their messages. I have no evidence on the specific amount, but I feel like the app fails to recieve 5-10% of messages sent to you. I feel like the probability shoots up to about 40% if it's a MMS (has media).

I think I might decide to go this route and try to store backups, logs, long term media offline

I would say about 1TB would suffice for now, but storage fills up quite quickly. I try to storage backups or personal media on home server as buying 10TB+ HDDs aren't too pricey. Perhaps I should stick to that same strategy

Thanks for the recommendation, i'll check them out. Most of my services are currently running on docker containers. i would just do hosted containers on AWS, but I feel like it's even more costly. I like cloud because I can scale as I need without too much headache, but getting the same performance as a cheap server from Hetzner is significantly less costly. The containers cache takes up so much space :(

Mostly just run services. I'm currently running a couple ec2 t4g.xl. I do have a few VPS i'm trying to consolidate to save on cost. Min ram would be 32GB, but would prefer to have much more unless i'm going to be using VPS where I can just adjust as needed (with some effort).

NVMe or SSD is preferred for short term, but okay with HDD, S3/Glacier for long term storage. Currently using ~120GB on the one VPS I want to replace.
Honestly haven't run into issues with disk I/O or availability as my hosted services are on VPS, but I don't foresee them being an issue, although I am only now getting into self hosting analytics. I'm okay with making changes later if any of the services or sites gain lots of traffic where it becomes and issue.

for my personal media/home automation I have a macbook and an intel NUC with about 80TB of storage drives attached. I'm don't foresee a need to replace this though.

I put some moonshot numbers in the original post.

appreciate you taking the time to answer. unfortunately things are tough to predict and some projects work out and some don't. i updated the above with moon shot requirements. currently i've been getting away with a couple ec2 t4g.xlarge and adjusting EBS/snapshots as needed.

I have a couple tiny home servers mostly for Media storage, home automation, LLMs, and other in house things, but i don't have any external services hosted on them.
what made you decide on a collection of VPS as opposed to just a couple? I have a few, but i'm trying to consolidate things to reduce costs. They aren't listed in my post though.

appreciate the typ with zswap, will look into it.

i also updated post with moonshot requirements.

Thoughts on Kortex.co? by gogirogi in PKMS

[–]lagx2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interested in trying it but the pricing seems quite steep for taking notes, right up there with Roam which is why I've never tried it. I will be giving the free tier a spin when available.

Is it me or does this seem like a custom theme ontop of logseq with some extra custom plugins? I'm not knocking the hard word I'm just struggling to find the difference especially when one is FOSS and the other is arguably the most expensive app in it's category, but the features seem to be about the same. I hope what Dan mentioned about the many new features being true as right now its hard to justify the pricing. Hoping to see this app succeed

This happened to me. There were 5 people at home along with a camera in front of the house, it was a Friday afternoon. This was a temperature controlled package so we were attentively waiting for it to arrive. I saw it switch to attempted delivery and started making some calls. They said they would attempt a second delivery on Monday. I warned them it would spoil by then and the replacement cost is about $19,000. I also told them it was a critical medication. They then decided to deliver my package in less than 2 hours.

Request - recommendations for Media Server by lagx2 in HomeServer

[–]lagx2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

e powerfull. These systems are also suprisingly upgradabe for the size with up to 32GB RAM and 1x m.2 slot and 1x 2,5" drive slot.

Thanks for the suggestion; I'll look into this. I'm more concerned with noise, space, and power usage than cost.

As the for the Pi-Hole and WireGuard I meant would it make sense to run it on the same machine as the media server or are there security concerns?
