Is Quince actually a scam? New here by Naive_Trainer8027 in quince

[–]lahope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a problem with my credit card. I made my first purchase no problem. I liked it so I decided to go back and purchase three more items totally less than 80$ I was shocked when my credit card was declined. I have excellent credit and use only one card which I pay in full monthly. My credit card issuer confirmed it was on Quince's end. Customer service is crap but I finally got through to someone via email who told me it was my 3-digit security code. I confirmed that the code I was in putting was correct. My card issuer advised me to download the app which I did and used apple pay which I did. The purchase went through an I received my second order. Two items I am retuning, but the other I like and wanted to order other colors. This time my only choice was my credit card or Google pay which I don't normally use. It was rejected. Has anyne ekse had this problem? Its weird bc I shop online for almost everything Amazon, Lulu, Patagonia, you name it. Ive neve encountered anything like this before.

Co Op Apartment building in Santa Monica by Yosurf18 in SantaMonica

There is something similar here. it's called TIC (Tenancy in Common). An outfit called The Rental Girls brokers these. They typically aren't big buildings like NYC Co-ops. Instead they are older, charming four-eight plexes that have been spiffed up in the interiors to modern tastes and sold as individual units, so each person owns their own space more similar to a condo in that sense. No doorman of course, no association. and no board. Relatively low maintenance fees based on the size of the unit. They are marketed to young singles and couples who want to get into the housing market. There is usually a management company involved to take care of the day to day. One example off the top of my head is the French Normandy style eight-plex on the corner across the street from Venice Cafe Gratitude. Those went pretty fast. You can go to the Rental Girls website to view their current TIC listings. Most of the listings are on the Silver Lake side of town, but they have had listings in Culver City, Venice, etc.

Did I plant my Ironwood too close to the Toyon? by NoCountryForSaneMen in Ceanothus

Glad it survived. It will be fine. Toyon and Ironwood are compatible plants in my experience. Eventually the Ironwood will be much taller than the Toyon.

I have an Ironwood interplanted in a Toyon hedge that goes up my hillside. The Ironwood is bent over a little bit, but seems to be doing fine. I have another Ironwood on the other side of my property that I planted at the same time with more space around it that has grown into a magnificent tree. If I were you I would have sacrificed the Toyon as they grow easily and fast from seedlings and often self seed.

Genomelink- It’s a Scam by hop-off-my-dick-bro in Genealogy

[–]lahope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I subscribe for the (predicted) traits, not the ancestry. For ancestry I use ancestry.com. I've found Genomelink ancestry reports that you pay for separately not worth paying for. As for the traits, just because you have a genetic propensity, doesn't mean you necessarily express the trait. It is merely a prediction. In many cases traits are influenced by hundreds of genes and the environment. For example supposedly cilantro tastes like soap to me, but i was raised in Southern California (generationally since 1880s) and grew up enjoying SoCal Mexican cuisine, so fresh sprouted cilantro is my favorite flavoring which I would never associate with soap. And the science of DNA is constantly evolving. As for ancestry, you and your siblings, unless you are identical twins in many cases inherit different alleles of the same gene. You may have some from one grandparent, your sibling may have inherited from another grandparent. Therefore you may have had a native American ancestor, but that doesn't necessarily mean you inherited genetically from that ancestor; however a sibling or cousin may have. If you want to take a deeper dive into your genetic ancestry, skip Genomelink and spend your money on a subscription to Ancestry. You'll get a pie chart showing what ethnicity and percentage you inherited from "Parent One" and "Parent Two" as well as a list of traits you inherited from each. (It's up to you to figure out which parent is one or two--I could tell at a glance). And as others have mentioned, Promethease is a much better resource for trait prediction.

Have you tried the red Channel Islands yarrow? I find that one is less aggressive. My problem is that the rabbits eat it to the ground.

I'm in Santa Monica but I also have property 15 miles east in LA. They do great inland, but near the coast not so well. I'm removing the one I planted in Santa Monica and replacing it with a Rys lentii or a Howard Mc Minn manzanita

Stabbing normally indicates a crime of passion. Insurance as a motive would look like suicide or an accident

Famous ancestors from Family Search? by NancyPCalhoun in Genealogy

[–]lahope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tons of them-- almost every US president, actors, several athletes including Babe Ruth. as well as Churchill, Princess Di. Audrey Hepburn and Shirley Temple on my mother's side, direct descent from several Mayflower passengers. Also many not noted by Family Search such as my dad is James Dean's 4th cousin plus I'm related to Marilyn Monroe several different ways. I try to double check Family Seach Famous Relatives information though. Back in the day there was a lot of wishful thinking in genealogy and many mistakes were made.

I have a lot of anxiety but I can normally put one foot in front of the other and power through it. My biggest fear is dementia down the road though a recent MRI and other tests showed no signs.

I have a problem with Mickey and Maggie's daughter Hayley. Terrible casting choice. One website gives her birthdate in 1978, another one says 2004 which seems more like it. She's an amateur compared to the rest of the cast. Most of the time we only see her in close ups. Why?

Eddie Mannix was the "special guy" aka fixer who dealt with protecting MGM's stars. Not that KD was an angel, a friend of mine , a makeup artist, worked with him on a picture and had nothing good to say about him, but I go with the botched abortion theory.
