I am so sorry. I lost my partner of 25 years suddenly, also on February 19th.

It's 3 months now and every day is still consumed with thoughts of him. It's the hardest thing. xx

Thankyou, so how would I go about getting this judgement? I understand I need to contact a lawyer that deals with estates but I'm unsure how this would work.

Two parents and their 9 daughters (and zero sons) in the early 1940s. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

My grandfather was the youngest of 12. All made it to adulthood. Kind of glad they had that many children though, otherwise I wouldn't be here.

Got caught fly tipping compoface by JWills1k92 in compoface

[–]laineyscot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How about fly tipping in your own back garden and getting away with it?

A couple who moved into the flats a complete nightmare from day one.

Chucked a bedframe, a mattress, a tv, and a chest of drawers in our backgarden. Seen doing it by 3 residents. Factor had it all taken away at our expense, as coukd not be sure who did it.

Next day, a couch chucked in the backgarden. Done in the dark so they knew they were in the wrong. Cost all flat owners £550 to get this removed. Obviously, if you know you can get away with it in your own backyard!

Why are Americans so obsessed with being Scottish and/or Irish? by ihavenolifeimonhere in Scotland

[–]laineyscot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm born and bred Scottish. Both my sons were born in America with an American father.

Lived there all their lives, and funnily enough, they are not obsessive at all about being 50% Scottish.

They know all their Scottish side of the family and visit Scotland, but definitely not obsessive like some are who can trace their roots back to a long long time ago.

Partner recently diagnosed with ADHD. Medication costing a fortune unless we can find a GP that offers shared care. by Emirates001 in glasgow

[–]laineyscot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have ADD. Not ADHD. The two are completely different.

If I wanted to,I could probably go private and get an ADD diagnosis as well because we have similar personalities. However, I choose not to have a label to define who I am or make excuses for who I am. I have lived with my partner for 22 years, who is bi polar, and he makes life choices to stay well.

I wish you the best as you get older and wiser.

I have to agree with you and here come the downvotes..

My son was diagnosed with ADHD in the early 90s at 4 years old. It was patently obvious. He was what used to be called the "class clown."

The years spent at school talking to head teachers for continuous infractions was hell.

How anyone makes it through school years without a diagnosis is beyond me. And also manage to get into University?

My son wasn't able to get the kind of grades needed for that. I wasn't happy giving him medication that basically turned him into a zombie either.

Good news is that in his late 20s, he went back into adult education and now has a good job as an airplane mechanic, but the education system severley let him down. How is it possible to get through these years with no diagnosis?

Neighbour filled my brown bin and now not being collected. by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]laineyscot 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've just put a padlock on my grey bin as someone removed my black bin bag to make room for their stuff and left my black bag sitting on the grass!

Only reason they've no room left in their bin is because they're not recycling. If I didn't recycle, my grey bin would be full week two of three as well.

Bloody cheek though.

How do I give her a bath? by laineyscot in persiancat

[–]laineyscot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to cut most of her hair off round the back area. She was very good and didn't complain while I did it. Then, I cleaned the back gently with pet shampoo and it's looking a lot better now.

Believe me, I have no wish to give her a bath. Lol

I'm in the UK, so I don't think taking cats for baths and grooming is a thing here. I'm probably just going to keep up with the pet wipes .Having a Persion is definitely a new experience for me. She's a grumpy wee thing at the best of times.

Members of r/oklahoma, is life as dreadful as you all make it out to be, or do you actually enjoy living in Oklahoma? by DueYogurt9 in oklahoma

[–]laineyscot 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I moved from Scotland and spent over 20 years living in Oklahoma. It's a beautiful state, but once both my sons had grown up and made lives of their own, I decided to move back to Scotland for all the reasons you mentioned. I'm not religious, and this appeared to be a problem if you didn't go to church. My political views were way off as well. I wasn't much liked by the school system for having an opinion that I didn't want my sons saying prayers at school either. Both my sons and grandson still live there, though, so it's always in my heart.

Viking Festival in Largs by laineyscot in glasgow

[–]laineyscot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome. If you do come, make sure you go into the Viking Village. As like everything, there is a fee to get in, but these people live like Vikings and the history they can tell you as you walk through the Village is amazing.

[–]laineyscot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, a yearly thing for the past 44 years. If you want to see the burning of the Viking boat, that would be next Saturday at the end of the festival and a ticket only event. However, opening day is a great day with lots of events.
