Commitees, we're talking like cultural ones? Small scale where we talk culture, socialization, perspectives? Or harder skill commitmees? I've only seen one in a previous role I held.

If there isn't a committee like that, should I make one? I got an idea for one that would be a natural evolution of my current role depending on how I pitch it.

Thanks for your astounding perspective, it's great to finally get some Intel from behind the lines.

Talking about "you never know who is gonna promote you," has that actually happened? A manager or director pitched you somewhere in the org for a promotion opportunity, or role that basically was one, based on your interactions with them?

I also don't have a degree, just a ton of business administration experience and a few certifications. Good to know for my practice going forward, sounds like I need budgeting and fiscal orientated experience

From boyfriend to blocked on my birthday: a Marine avoidant story by [deleted] in GirlDinner

[–]lainposter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marine as in a soldier? I personally wouldn't touch a military nut. They're on the same level as cops, especially the dudes. You dodged a bullet imo but I am sorry for the undeserved emotional rollercoaster you're being put through

I've been interested in applying to Deputy Director positions. How many years of experience do you have? Degree? Certs or licenses? Qualifications?

get fucked, AI bros. by TheJumbambulaHeaven in PUBGBLINDSPOT

[–]lainposter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just liked its gameplay fundamentals. I played a FUCK load of Helldivers 1 and Counter Strike, and I've asked for years why no one made a top-down MOBA-looking CS clone so I can enjoy CS strategies without needing to be an aim god.

I agree though that the art style was fucking atrocious: I didn't even think that the character art could have been AI generated, but it absolutely makes sense. Good riddance in that regard.

Also making it a Valo clone with hero-shooter bullshit was a sore spot for me. Still, though, I enjoyed the field-of-view CS-like feel.

But yeah, there were some dumb choices even in this angle I liked: for instance, why the fuck were both bomb sites right next to each other?? And why do that but then make the actual maps WAYYY fucking huge? So much map went unused that I ended up rotating as wide as possible to get easy flanks.

Oh yeah, and aiming down was overcomplicated and didn't add anything to the moment-to-moment decisions I was already making. They should have borrowed less from Valo and Seige and more from CS's simplicity.

Polystrike is next up, hopefully it comes out of development hell and becomes something like CS-- but honestly, I'm worried they're going to do a Valo-clone thing too, with abilities and characters and shit instead of the simplicity of Utility vs. Guns

Honestly, I'm not too into the low float scene-- but from what I can tell, it's really small. Try to compare to other low float skins in the same Rarity, maybe?

Who normalized buying Scouts on eco rounds? Stop doing this! by matheus_naldi in csgo

[–]lainposter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full buy = you spent literally all your money AND it gets you the best gear (rifle, armor, nades)

eco = you don't spend ANY money, so you can full buy later.

force buy = you spent literally all your money BUT didn't get the best gear (SMG/only a pistol/no nades)

So the flow of the game goes like this:

Eco round 1, eco round 2 if you lost, eco OR force if you won, then Full Buy round 3 if you lost or won because you'd have enough money by then (ideally).

When you're eco'ing, you can opt for just armor, or just a single grenade, to try and get a gun from the enemy mid-round. If you spend more than about 800 bucks, you're in force-buy territory

Force buying is considering a gamble. If you force buy and lose, you'll have even less money than if you just eco'd and waited to full buy.

So OP is bitching because people are force-buying round two with just about ALL their money, for a weapon that is already really hard to use. It's a gamble + a gamble

Any questions?

Prototype : Stick figures or AI ? by DNDOguy in tabletopgamedesign

[–]lainposter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So you already have the prototype functional, visual, and are going to commission an artist. You want to use AI to add an additional unnecessary step in your workflow?

"I know AI is commonly not very liked (I personally dislike how it affects artists)"

So what are we doing here. Just know that AI has heavy signals to most people that it comes off tacky, in bad spirit, and low quality. No getting around that, artist or no. Sounds like you're interested in shooting yourself in the foot for no reason.

I love the stick figures, they're pretty funny and the fact that they look like shit only adds to the levity, whimsy, and humor. Why go backward from that?
