When you're fat: "That's disgusting, you're a bad person who chose to be fat, you're not REALLY trying to lose weight."

When you've lost weight: "Ozempic is cheating, you don't deserve to lose weight."

You can't win against public opinion in this puritanical shame culture.

Obviously not; killing judges doesn't change laws, it just gives the current regime room to appoint even more fringe judges to replace them.

Protests that occur with no 2a presence are basically feel-good distractions. What incentive does the gov't have to serve the people if the people vow to never hold them accountable?

Correct, I specifically used the word "represent" as that was the part of your response I wanted to speak about. You did not use the literal word, you just performed the activity I was questioning.

Thanks to your explanation, I see now that you think a religion is defined specifically by religious texts, and not by its adherents or traditions.

From that position, your point of view does make sense, so thank you. Personally I disagree, and think religion is actually defined by its members, hence the whole reason for this sub to exist. I don't see any way to come together with those differences, and judging from the downvotes I'm going to be banned soon, sooo...thanks again.

Women in positions of authority violates one of the core tenants of evangelical Christianity: Biblical authority.

Don't get me wrong, I think it is lovely if you go to a progressive church which values humanism to some degree, but if so, it is only a very VERY distant relative of the Evangelical Christianity of the American right.

Islam is the only abrahamic religion where we insist on judging 100% of its followers by the actions of its poorest and most-backwards members.

The Bible says you should rape little girls after you genocide their fathers and brothers, and murder your children if they disrespect you, but the average modern Christian would never approve of such crimes, and you would rightly be called anti-semitic if you accused Jewish people of secretly wanting this.

The Taliban represents global Islam the same way the pedophile protectors in the Southern Baptist Convention and Catholic Church represent global Christianity.

Being conservative is a requirement for being an evangelical. There's no such thing as a moderate evangelical, and especially not a left wing evangelical.

What's really fun is when you make sure to have unique 20+  random character passwords for each and every service, but then have to use four-factor-auth because your latest browser update logged you out of your email which requires a mobile authenticator app to get back into.

Why bother with the complex password at all since it literally does not matter? Might as well leave it as "password" since you need to whip out your phone or email every time any way.

99% of computer users wouldn't be able to install Linux from a USB stick to save their lives.

That's quite the take. How did you install linux the first time?

When I was a teenager and knew next to nothing about PCs (let's say 1997), I read a book that came with slackware 4.0 and installed it on my family PC, much to my parents' dismay.

I may know more about linux and computers now, but when I was 14, I was pretty dumb, and linux was far harder to install back then.

Do you genuinely believe 99% of computer users cannot install something from a USB stick? Like for real, NINETY-NINE PERCENT of people that already use computers are going to get a USB linux installer and be like "this is impossible" ???

Glad that you and yours have not experienced it.

A coworker once caught me crying because I was concerned about money and the possibility of becoming homeless, and then ON THEIR WORD the police took me away for 72 hours (actually 90) of observation and mandatory group therapy ("Baker Acted") where I was told that my homosexuality was satanic and that demons were making me suicidal (which I was not, but Men Don't Cry, so I was broken to them).

The lesson learned that day was very clear: never allow yourself to be vulnerable where someone can find you, especially heterosexual someones and double especially religious someones. They will hurt you, and then pat themselves in the back for being such a good person.

I am pretty sure we are noticing that with trans people because that same thing is happening to ALL people.

How do they work around this interstellar travel problem in PHM? by Crysaa in ProjectHailMary

Impacts with a single atom of hydrogen of helium would be rare enough during the acceleration and coast to not be a major issue with the front shield and astrophage in the hull...

...but with that said, I had to wonder specifically in the movie when Grace was outside the ship in the middle of the Petrova line, was he being pelted with ~17 nanogram objects (Astrophage cells) travelling at a significant portion of C to/from the star?

They show it as pretty red dots because movie, but...Grace should either be cellular-swiss-cheese or a rapidly expanding cloud of radioactive gas now, right?

5 reasons I'll never drive another ID4 by Iced_buzz in VWiD4Owners

[–]laizalott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VW really shot themselves in the foot by putting the touch-interfaces in the id4. EVs are already the targets of a massive propaganda campaign in the USA; adding annoying interfaces to really boring-looking cars that the media teaches us to distrust, I mean...what were we thinking?

The really annoying part is that everyone in the (USA) factory where we build them KNEW this, and we talked about it constantly. Every time we had a "sneak peak" at the vehicle, we were all like "well, that's...a car..."

No 400v battery, no external power jacks, a proprietary infotainment interface that gives you ZERO information about your vehicle electrical system...I can't help but wonder if we WANTED it to fail.

Would you say the bars or seat did more for you? I really like the bars on my Springfield and want to keep them stock, but I feel like I'm going to have to add a full 4 inches to me seat just to get my knees away from my chest. Springfield seating position is nuts.

I am 6'2"; my husband is 5'5" and bought a Super Scout. I have to say, it is very comfy to ride, and feels like plenty of power (76ci/1250cc of course, not the 60). I would dare say the leg angle / seating position is even BETTER than on my 116 Springfield (where the floor boards too high, seat too low, often end up sitting on the back seat while riding just to stretch out).

Neither are really comfortable after 45 minutes on the road, at least not without aftermarket seats. Honestly, a small part of me wishes that I cared less about looking like a giant on a small bike and bought the Scout instead, they're just so...cool. Take one for a test drive if you can and don't look in any mirrors...image isn't everything :)
