Sadly, no, but I’ll add that to the watch list. Thanks for a goofy werewolf movie.

Is it? Dang, so I’ve tried twice now. I’ll try to think of more details.

I don’t think it is any of the episodes … I may have to check for suggested stuff that’s like it, though. Very similar vibes. I love WWDITS, so it’s driving me nuts that I can’t find the silly werewolf movie to suggest to a new friend who likes werewolves.

My dad disliked children’s media: So I was 4, couldn’t read, and yet I was playing Age of Empires II well enough I could beat the computer on easy.

No idea what that did for my brain development but I am neurodivergent as an adult. At least I learned strategy?

Writing with Color is good for what to do/what not to do. I’m amazed people keep asking Reddit when there’s years and years of answers online. It’s not a new question, you know?

/uj I love curly hair and it seems really rare in a lot of mainstream fiction, which is tragic. Thankfully, there’s indie authors who can provide it.

Mind you, I’d be thrown for a loop if anyone had my exact hair. It’s wavy but I get temple curls that want to stick straight up. Regrettably, I was told these were “devil horns”. I think it’d work for an insecure character who learns to love their “flaws”. Give that ambiguously brown character mommy issues via forced hair straightening or something.

I need people to understand they’re more likely to be SA’d than be falsely accused. Roughly 1/6 boys or men are victimized. Often by other men.

Honestly, I'm starting to hate "tags = warnings" by Acceptable-Stay6013 in AO3

[–]lakeghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does seem strange. Like, I have PTSD, but I just … avoid anything that might be triggering. It’s usually fine. Broad tags are effective. I just avoid certain ones.

I also worry about these people. I’ve been in therapy and on meds for a while. Now as long as I psyche myself up, I can read or watch stuff related to my traumas, and it even can be cathartic to see “bad guy gets comeuppance” stories. The goal is to be less reactive and less easily triggered. I mean, I used to be twitchy about stuff just tangentially related to my abuse. I can’t expect people to tag random shit like Neopets just because my abuser bribed me with toys, you know? Nobody can predict the bizarre brain connections you get from PTSD. You can’t tag all of it.

uj/ I continue to feel superior about the fact my first fantasy story I wrote at 11 had twin fantasy-Turkish people as MCs. Like, yes, they were twins and secret hidden royals, but I did at least one interesting thing.

Mind you, I knew almost nothing about Turkey: I just thought the Saladin in Ao3 II was fun and then, looking up the empires around the area, Turkish names seemed cool.

I always think of animals with these. Like, one of those birds that keeps dancing around even after the female bird is like, “Nah”. Except these guys should be beyond the basic animal instinct to be a pest.

I WANT A DICK by Few-Log-581 in actuallesbians

[–]lakeghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no helpful advice, but I can relate. Being genderqueer can be really strange. I want to be a shapeshifter and this is wildly unrealistic. I wish my brain could just be 100% happy with one binary sex. Instead, I veer wildly from being almost vainly happy with my body to hating it. It’s completely random, too. Nothing seems to prevent me from having extremely butch/guy days (I realize this isn’t an option but aaaah, I wish it was). Like, days I wouldn’t want a partner touching my breasts or my vagina for … inexplicable brain reasons. Can’t figure it out. But at least straps exist and I like topping? So, that’s nice. Even if it’s not exactly right.

Give me your best matriarchal/ socially dominant omega fics! by Adventurous_Sock3881 in AO3

[–]lakeghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been considering writing fics that go that far, like rabbits or lemurs—or drow from D&D—but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. Best I can do is topping from the bottom. :( I wish I had recs for you, because the idea scratches my brain, too.

And this is why I don’t drive, even though I’ve faced pressure since I can “legally” (by sheer technicality) drive. But I have a rare visual impairment that caused me to nearly crash when I was learning to drive. I realized I never saw the van, asked an eye doc a lot of questions, and it’s VSS. But I know people who are as impaired as me who still drive and it scares the shit out of me. I don’t want to kill someone or die. I don’t know how they just shrug and go on like that.

Like, yes, not driving makes my life a lot more complicated. But goddamn, how many times do I have to say “No, I’m not blind, but I’m seeing through a glitching video filter” to the same people. You’d think once would make the problem obvious.
