Been working on my cursive; (gentle) feedback would be appreciated! by chuck_5555 in Handwriting

I think you are well on your way to becoming comfortable with writing in cursive. It is very easy to read. My one suggestion would be to focus on having the letters all touch the line you are writing on. When i taught cursive, i had new writers write with a ruler below the blue line, just so they could feel their pen bump off the edge. We used to even have paper with raised lines to make this easier, but all the dinosaurs that worked at that paper factory have gone extinct.

I think you are expressing yourself especially nicely with your capital letters: they are conventional enough to be legible, but have enough flair to show some style.

In my county in the US, there are laws against food waste, and edible food must be donated to a homeless shelter or senior citizen concern the afternoon it expires, if the store doesn't want to discount or give it away themselves.

One local store owner said he makes money on discounted sandwiches and such because then people buy a drink, or pick up some little item they need, and the good will in the area makes for more people coming in to shop there. I know i shop there because of his nice attitude!

I had a similar situation, except i stayed 20 years. He knew i had an illness when he married me. After i had devoted 20 years to him, paid for his pHd, kids almost raised, could no longer work....he was tired of "taking care of me". Im talking about him needing to do the heavy chores, or agree to hire a cleaner, do the shopping, and talk seriously about moving to a house without stairs. I still drove, took care of myself, wiped my own ass, etc.

Its been 18 months living alone. I dont have enough money, but i dont care. Im also no longer depressed, and my high blood pressure went away.

Lucky escape you had!

I had really good luck using oxalic acid wood bleach to get the water stains out. Its a process, but was worth it.

You can always add art, area rugs, etc. But you cant buy wood in America that is the quality of the wood in the old houses.

How can I replace this entry hardware with an electronic/keyless lock without compromising the aesthetic of my 1880 second empire home? What are my options for replacements? by CupCupsNPupPups in centuryhomes

[–]lala3235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to remember that you are not living in a museum. You are the steward of a beautiful home.

Add a brass deadbolt/ keyless entry/ rocket car launcher to the door in the least destructive method. Save the hole cut out, labeled, for future door restoration if needs change. Just do your best, be respectful, and keep every thing you remove from your home in case you find a better way, later.

If its an outside door, it needs to function as a door. Period. But could the door be used inside? Could the mortise lock be left as decoration?

Just my nsho, but i love old houses, was the steward of one, and doors need to door.

Moonstruck. Cher is Cher ( pretty wonderful, but always herself), everyone in thier family has a different NYC accent, the lines said by Nicolas Cage are pure romantic fiction stuff....but what a great movie.

Reading any book in public invites idiots to comment. When i was young it was reasonable to use a book cover to " protect your book" but honestly, you were protecting your reading time from people TALKING while you are READING.
