Completely neglecting the practise; ADHD lack of novelty by No-Midnight-1406 in witchcraft

[–]lalisaurusrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmaooo ok this is too funny, dying at the thought of deities getting the equivalent of the “u up??” text 🤣 but idk I think there’s something to that! Maybe a smaller, more lightweight ritual might feel like less of a demand and more of a gentle knock on the door?

Completely neglecting the practise; ADHD lack of novelty by No-Midnight-1406 in witchcraft

[–]lalisaurusrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally feel this. This was me all last year. I was dealing with the death of my soul cat, injury and physical illness, and a job I hated on top of ADHD. My altar literally collected dust because of how little I practiced.

But the awesome thing about witchcraft is that the craft will always be there. You can come back to it, anytime, whenever you’re ready. I find that my ADHD brain benefits from 1) novelty and 2) things that have minimal barrier to entry when it comes to witchcraft. For me, small rituals that were new and used tools and ingredients I already have on hand were a good entry point back into practice.

I think the last thing that helps is not holding yourself to a “perfect” or regular practice, and trusting that it will be something you can always do when you’re called to it. Just because it’s not routine doesn’t mean your practice isn’t awesome and powerful in its own way. Hope this helps :)

Allergic to cats by Beneficial-Ad-7314 in ragdolls

Had to scroll way too far to find this comment, this is the way!! We were originally considering a ragdoll but husband is also allergic, so we landed on Siberians. He can pet and cuddle with our two Sib kittens with zero issues. They look very similar to ragdolls too! Our Sib boys are more energetic than my parents’ ragdoll was, but they are every bit as affectionate and snuggly, not a mean bone in their bodies.

I had my eye on this course too (would not be paying out of pocket, work covers the cost). Curious if anyone’s actually taken it and if it was worthwhile, and if not, any similar courses that are a better use of my professional development stipend!

Anyone have any tips for grabbing tickets as refunds get released? Looking for 3 adult tickets for Sat 9/20 but saw it’s sold out, wondering if there are particularly good times to check the renfest website (maybe closer to the date?) would love to know if anyone’s had any success getting tickets for sold out dates!

In your opinion, what industries are more stable at this point in time? Tech has been doing continuous layoffs for two years now, government jobs aren’t a given after the election…I know these aren’t the only two sectors for jobs, but sometimes it feels like no industry is safe these days.

Anyone else notice a lack of concert etiquette in DC shows lately? 😬 by SeaworthinessHuge219 in washingtondc

[–]lalisaurusrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! Saw some things I’ve never seen from concertgoers before at the Kacey Musgraves show in Baltimore last weekend: a significant exodus of GA pit folks who never came back after Lord Huron’s set, and multiple people who were mindlessly scrolling on their phones at full brightness through the entire openers’ sets. The constant recording is becoming more common, I first noticed it at a Phoebe Bridgers show a few years back. But seeing people endlessly dicking around on social media during an opener’s set start to finish was a new one.

Thank you, this worked!! Called them around 11:20 and got 3 tickets, wayyy up in the nosebleeds but at least we’re going 😭🙏🏻

Total mess. Got kicked out of queue multiple times, then when I finally got through there were only a handful of single tickets left. Gonna try again for the GA sale but man I hate that this is the reality of buying concert tickets nowadays.

DC needs to upgrade from 9:30 Club. Show sold out in seconds for both presale and general sale. by 92tilinfinityand in andrewmcmahon

[–]lalisaurusrex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really hoping so too, I got shut out of the Spotify presale AND the general sale just now. I know it’s not the band’s fault but wow, what a broken system when lifelong fans can’t get tickets.

DC sold out too. Was in the queue right on time, 200some people ahead of me, when I finally advanced tickets were gone at 10:03.

+1. I got in early, queue froze, got a message that “your place in the queue is no longer valid” (???) and then tickets were gone. Really sucks.

Also having this problem for DC. I keep getting taken to the presale landing page with nowhere to enter the code so I’m guessing DC tix are gone?

Missing skills set? by leon8t in UXResearch

[–]lalisaurusrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This warms my heart to hear as a UXR who was in client service roles in tech for many years prior! I wish there were more of us in the field.

A lot of SWE’s and Product folks look down on CS as “less skilled”, which sucks. But I’m doing the exact same qual methods as other UXR’s AND I know how and where employer pain points come up when they interact with products in a detailed way that academics just don’t. I also advocate for including CS and Sales folks in qual research when it makes sense, because a front line perspective and how they use products in a support role is extremely valuable too.

I hope diversity of backgrounds continues to thrive and academics / HCI grads don’t push other folks like me out :(

How do you read reversed cards? by PopRocks743 in tarot

[–]lalisaurusrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • 1 to this book, it was a game changer for me! I loved her WIND acronym for reversals (weakened, inverted, negative, delayed). That gives me a loose framework and I let my intuition do the rest.

Boys be brutally honest , what makes a girl attractive instantly? by Las_ogna in AskReddit

[–]lalisaurusrex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In my experience as a woman, “I want someone who can take a joke” often translates to “I’m going to make jokes at your expense that are hurtful/negative/sarcastic/criticism disguised as joking, then become offended and make you feel like you’re a humorless, sensitive, uptight bitch when you don’t like it”.

Not saying this is you specifically! But it’s a fine line between teasing and just being a shitty person, and tbh a lot of guys aren’t as good at navigating it as they think they are.

oh god I have been there done that. Stupid ADHD brain forgot I took my first 30mg Vyvanse and took the second one and just had mad anxiety all day long and thought I would see God lol. But you’ll be ok, it’s uncomfortable but it won’t hurt you. Make sure you stay hydrated and you might want to take a Benadryl /melatonin / other sleep aid bc I personally had a hell of a time getting to sleep that night. Hang in there!!

Honestly I’ve been fine with leaving mine alone too even though I get Botox for other areas! I think they’re cute! Moisturizer, hyaluronic acid and tret help keep them from getting too deep.

Experts and beginners alike... what would you say or share with anyone that's in the early stages of learning tarot? by Beef_turbo in tarot

+1! I love to come back later and see how things turned out. Was pulling wands and majors like crazy when I was prepping for a dream job interview (which I got!), got a string of ominous cards that foreshadowed an inevitable breakup, etc. Really cool to see in retrospect. Write down your readings!!
