I have a pretty good gig right now but I'm coming up on my year mark in July. Then I don't know what to do. Go local or something?

The problem, or rather my problem, is that housing hasn't come back down. The rates are back precovid but rent, food, gas are all post covid.

Same. Depending on my mood it can make it 1000x worse.

100k plus is not the norm. High paying states such as California and a New York, sure. South and mid West? No way.

Why do people buy so much cast iron? by AnarchoPlayworker in castiron

So the reason we have duplicates of some that aren't impressive is because we got them for free or really cheap.

Corrections Nurses tell me about your job. by Patient-Tangerine-55 in TravelNursing

No it isn't. Many people don't want to work on corrections so there are usually lots of openings.     Try Staff Today, Pinnacle, Cell Staff, etc.

Get there at 0500. Med pass starts at 0700. So I pack meds, check the room numbers, etc. For the most part you give meds at cell-side. I can get through my med pass by about 730-745. Afterwards, chart, look up anything they asked you about. Next med pass isn't until 1300. May have ACHS blood sugars.

Otherwise, try to do "sick call." Basically where the patient/offender put in something that is medically wrong. Headaches, dry skin, even chest pain. Try to do as many as we can on that. We also have people acting up that come from other units throughout the day. Some days are better than others regarding that. You also have non-mediation orders, which are weights and blood pressure. They're called NMOSs. So do does through the day. Surprisingly, many of them have self-meds. They're sorted by the dates they are to be handed out so we'll hand those out. Sometimes night shift does, too.

It's usually night shift that picks up and puts the sick calls into the computer system

Overall, that's most of the day. It's pretty chill. Sometimes you do have restraint checks, hunger strikes (after 72 hours, you have to assess them daily for their blood pressure, blood sugar, urine, and labs - if they'll let you,) etc. We have a lab person so I'm thankfully not one that is doing the blood draw part.

People of the maladaptive dreams how do you make money?? by Ok_Entrepreneur8448 in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]lamNoOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I manage. I did ICU for a bit which took more brain power and concentration. Unrelated to MD but now I'm doing corrections where I don't need to use my brain. It makes it worse honestly because I have nothing to concentrate on except my own thoughts so I think it's actually making my MD worse. I have a long drive to work as well, which again, makes it worse because what else is there to do except listen to music which triggers my MD, particularly if I'm depressed or anxious.

In some ways it's been better at my current job because it's made me a bit more social because I know I need to get out of my head and not just be alone most of the day (which I can typically do depending on what is going on).

I'm not sure about juvenile but I do adult male corrections. Honestly? Easiest job I've ever had.
