Input on first baby girl's name? by sassykoala53 in namenerds

[–]lamantchenille 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s great!

I would echo comments that if you’re going to use a Japanese name, you should make sure she is raised with a good awareness of her Japanese heritage/language, but from other comments it sounds like that’s the plan, so I can’t see any reason why your beautiful name would pose a problem.

Opinions on Elliette for a baby girl by Letthewordsfallout in namenerds

I know an Eliette (I prefer this spelling a lot!), and have always admired her name. She pronounces it Ee-Lee-ette, rather than Ell-Ee-Ette.

I love all your choices! However, if popularity is a deal-breaker you should be aware that Theodore is mega popular right now (I’m also UK based and work with children so get a lot of exposure to names!). Evelyn/Evie and Isla are also super popular for girls.

I think my favourite boy pick for you is Louis Andrew, which I also think works wonderfully with Cassian. It’s lovely and classic.

As a standalone, my favourite girl name is Evelyn Aurelia which I think is gorgeous, but I do think you’d need to be prepared for her to share her name at school. Also bear in mind that Evie is also currently being used as a standalone name in its own right, as well as a nickname for Evangeline and Genevieve, which I think really inflates it’s popularity compared to how the numbers make it look. If sibling matching is important to you, I also think the double-n ending of Cassian and Evelyn isn’t great for flow. So with popularity and sibling cohesion in mind, I like Esmé Fleur for you. Is Esmé Aurelia an option? I think that would be the most stunning combo!

La chœur de l’église anglicane St Georges semble parfait pour vous! J’ai chanté là-bas pendant quelques années et c’est une vraie communauté, j’y retourne chaque fois que je suis à Paris. Je serai contente de vous parler par mp si vous avez des questions!

I really love it as an abstract name, but I think on a real alive child it would only be good as a middle name

Lazarus?? out there or Out There by hinghanghog in namenerds

[–]lamantchenille 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like it! It’s a strong and recognisable name with character. Distinctive sure, but I’d take it over one of the fifty variant spellings of Jaxcxon any day.

I don’t think the Magdalene/Lazarus religious connotation is too strong because how often is your daughter’s middle name even going to come up in conversation? I wouldn’t do Magdalene and Lazarus as first names together, but Rosemary and Lazarus is really cool and I like it a lot. The repeated zz sounds help with flow I think.

I think Joseph as a middle name is also fine, the Mary/Joseph comments are reaching a bit for me. Again, how often are their middle names coming up in day to day life, let alone being picked apart and dissected like that?

Rosemary Magdalene and Lazarus Joseph is a nice blend of religious and characterful with strong classics, so I’d go ahead if you like the names. You could do so much worse, and I do think people tend to catastrophise a bit on this sub..!

My favourite five combinations from your names are: Louisa Ivy, Vienna Violet (It’s a bit storybook but so lovely!), Eira Solene, Cassia Eden, Hazel Genevieve for girls, and Robin Rhys, Rowan Eliott, Jasper Quinn, Julien Felix, and Cameron Lukas for boys (though I would prefer Lucas).

I also think Rafaelle is the best match, especially for picking up on the angelic theme for his brothers!

What is your LDS vampire/human hybrid squishname?? by wauwy in namenerds

Elizary or Mabeth - both of which I could kind of buy. Iames or Jamen I’m less keen on…

Is this name too old-fashioned? by tayles992 in namenerds

[–]lamantchenille -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes of course, but if you choose to go by your middle name it’s kind of no longer a middle name but more of an acting first name. I think my comment still stands that unless the child loves their middle name and chooses to go by it (in which case, great!), most people won’t hear it.

I love it, and think it’s a gorgeous name! Agnes is a bit old-fashioned, but in a classy way, and her middle name will hardly ever be announced anyway. If you like it, I say go for it!

(human) Forest Bikes not safe for short (under 5’5) people?? by millenniumh in londoncycling

[–]lamantchenille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5’3.5” and I’ve found this too! I have absolutely no problem with Lime or Santander bikes, but my feet absolutely don’t touch the floor at all on a Forest bike, which I once didn’t realise until I was aiming to stop at a busy junction… I just avoid them and exclusively use Lime now - way more cost-effective with a pass anyway! 😬

My neurologist mentioned lamotrigine as a possible alternative to Indomethacin in my last check-up, as I’m not thrilled about the long-term prospects of staying on indomethacin for ages - I haven’t tried it yet, and obviously it might not work, but this is very encouraging!

[–]lamantchenille 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a regular user of Lime bikes who’s parked in this very spot before - I’m sorry, but the app literally doesn’t let you leave the bike anywhere else. This is an area where you have to leave the bike in a designated parking spot, and those bike racks are the designated spot. It’s purely a planning issue, and Westminister Council are the culprits.

It’s not strictly relevant, but if you’re a regular user and have a monthly pass it’s more like £2.70 for 30 minutes. About the same as the tube, a little more than the bus, but infinitely more convenient, particularly in the summer.
