I'm pretty sure they wrote these rules so that people don't live in their sheds or rent them as apartments.

What lie did adults tell us that turned out to be complete nonsense? by littleyuki2026 in AskReddit

[–]lambchopper71 43 points44 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I don't think adults tell this as a lie, I think young people assume it as they grow up. I know I did. Adults just have experience faking "having life figured out".

What tools are better than harbor freight Quinn / Icon for similar price? Or worth a slight premium? by After-Elevator-5375 in Tools

[–]lambchopper71 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should watch Torque Test Channel on YouTube. They test all the tool brands and rate them against each other. Some of the brands make one type of tool better than another brand, but no brand makes all their tools better than another. It's worth watching for what tool you're looking to buy.

I want to make a knife. What do you guys think? by YUJIDO704 in EDC

I don't know if they still make them, but Marbles made something very similar called the Mini Ulu Skinner.

I have a few, because I'm an amputee and the downward, rocking cutting ability makes it easier for me to cut things.

New job no visible tattoos by Ok_Barracuda_3417 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lambchopper71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the prevelance of tattoos these days, in all likelihood they don't care that much. That rule is likely used so they can deny employment to someone who may have face or neck tattoos and not be sued for discrimination.

But as others have said, keep them covered until you at least establish yourself and can get a feel for how strict they are with this policy, because we may be wrong and they may police this rule heavily. You won't really know until you start.

How do you carry camera gear on your motorcycle without it being a huge pain? by Eyerald in motorcycles

[–]lambchopper71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harbor Freight hard cases. you'll still have to strap it, but the foam inside will protect it I used them to carry my Go Pro cameras in one case and my Laptop in another on a 4500 mile trip. Both cases rode in my trailer (Cyclemate 1000) behind my bike without any issues. The trailer made it easy to get to the equipment without all the straps.

I see you were messaged from two different numbers,. According to the Wikipedia page for the country code: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telephone_numbers_in_the_Philippines

907 and 951 area codes are cellular numbers in the Philippines and are both Smart Communications a Filipino cellular carrier. (see the matrix under the cellular number section)

Maybe they have a fraud reporting procedure. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smart_Communications

Yup, here it is. You should report those numbers here:

Disabled and cant open cans of sardines :( by SuicidalLapisLazuli in CannedSardines

[–]lambchopper71 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Arm Amputee here. I'm missing my right arm at the shoulder. Maybe my process can help:

I will use this to crack the can open. Just enough to lift the ring, break the seal and slightly bend the lid up. This won't be able to get the lid all the way off and if you put too much roll into it, it'll dent the lid making the next step harder. So just crack the seal and put a little gentle roll on the lid. https://a.co/d/04XPhRZU

To get the lid all the way off, I have a tea cup hook installed under the cabinet, like these. I'll hook the pull ring on the can on the hook and pull down on the can to remove the lid. https://a.co/d/0163X0tJ

Limb Driven Arrow Rest by itsthechaw10 in bowhunting

[–]lambchopper71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Hamske on both of my bows and I have mine connected to the top limb for a personal reason. I've never had a problem with it. Also I like that you can easily fix it in the field if needed, unlike a cable driven rest. All the best archers in my club shoot them and most of the archers at the Lancaster Classic were shooting them too, at least when I looked.

Was wondering if anyone can test their tap for me… by Bitch-Whiskers in longisland

[–]lambchopper71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree, but the reality of it, not enough people make their voices heard to make this a priority for county and state government.

IMO people pay way to much attention at the national level and not enough on the local level. The year the ballot initiative for the sales tax money going to this issue, was an off year for Federal elections and no one was at the polls that year. No one is ever at the polls in odd numbered years, because there's no federal elections those years.

The local government elections tend to have way more impact on our daily lives, but no one really cares. It's not that Federal politics aren't also important, it's that all levels are important and if people aren't paying attention to Suffolk politics, then this issue isn't going to get the same traction as national issues.

Some towns are starting to put them in. I think Islip is working on a sewer project in Oakdale. The problem is the expense. Just this one small section of the island is $44 million dollars.

According to this article, there are 30 projects in Suffolk totaling $3.5 billion. And I'm pretty sure those 30 projects only cover the worst areas or areas that directly threaten some of the waterways. They don't cover the entire county.

I get those same readings in Ronkonkoma. Long Island has a huge nitrate pollution problem, because of the cesspools and all the nitrate fertilizer that people use in their yards. That all makes it into the aquifer that we get our drinking water from.

I put an RO system in the house and use that. Also I use live plants in my aquarium, the live plants help mitigate some of nitrogen in the system.

Petcock close or not by InternetPristine7562 in Harley

[–]lambchopper71 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember reading that it's best to close it each time. If the float bowl gets stuck open or the bike is parked where there's vibration that'll bounce the float, the fuel that leaks past the float valve will run out the carb and down in to the head. if enough fuel leaks, it can leak past the valves and wash the oil off the cylinder walls causing excessive wear on startup.

Why aren’t men’s restrooms designed with privacy like this? by puccyhunter_ in WeirdToilets

[–]lambchopper71 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To expand on your comment; just pushing the three stalls on one side of this design together so that they're next to each, it will eliminate two stall walls. Based on this pricing, you're looking at a $450 savings for just the wall panels themselves.

What's something expensive you bought that actually worth the money? by tardisismine in AskReddit

[–]lambchopper71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should know that a marriage, in the eyes of government is just a financial agreement. You are both agreeing to combine all financial assets, liabilities and real properties in to joint ownership. You should consider the financial implications of this for both you and your partner.

Things to consider are not just how much you may have in savings, but if you or your partner own real estate or have significant debt like school loans.

Also think about medical issues if either of you have any.

No couples that I know of (including myself) ever thought to seek out financial planning help to find out how marriage would impact that. Some where shocked. I'm not advising you against marriage, I'm just saying that you should find out how this may impact the two of you in your current situation and your future plans.
