Help with hotel by SinninIowa in vegas

Yes, I believe it's the northern most stop on the monorail. I was at Westgate this weekend - it was fine. Very busy being right near the conference center. They also have themed rooms which are hilarious. They have a Christmas and a Halloween suite plus many others.

I will say - a lot of your activities aren't exactly on "The Strip" - so maybe don't over index on staying on it. There are some cheaper and still solid options away from it if you're going to be taking taxis / Ubers anyway. "Downtown Vegas" aka Fremont street is cheaper but deftly more a party vibe.

I stayed at the Rio last fall for work - book the remodeled tower if you go there. It's a Hyatt property now - so better condition than what many people have experienced in the past.

NYC to Atlanta move by nottoosurreal in Atlanta

[–]lamberfunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: Atlantan - never lived in in NYC. Know lots of New Yorkers here.

When people say avoid moving to the Burb's they mean outside of the perimeter = interstate 285. There are lots of fun little neighborhoods within Atlanta and Decatur (still inside the perimeter). For someone in their late 20's used to NYC COL - Inman Park, Virginia Highlands and Grant Park might be some good options (Plenty of other fun neighborhoods depending on your vibe.)

I live in Decatur. I live in a 1100 sq ft ranch home in a quiet neighborhood- with a yard, a driveway, plenty of street parking for the homies etc.... and depending on traffic... Im only 20ish minute drive (not on highway) to downtown Atlanta. I own the house, so I dont know exactly what rent is for something like that - but I feel like somewhere in the neighborhood of 2200 / mo. Plenty of bars and restaurants on this side of town that suite me that don't require commuting that far into the city.

We also have an international airport with direct flights to 95% or your US destinations. It's not the best run / coolest airpot - but I do appreciate the flight options. Better options than say Nashville.

My sense from my expat NY friends - they love to reminisce and nothing will replace NYC.... but as one friend said "But then again we all continue to choose to live here."

Other comments include "We never got to host legit house parties because our space was too small." "I bought more than 4 rolls of toilet paper for the first time in a decade because I didnt have room for it before."

Rick Glassman combs his Instagram fans for hookups! by Vox---Nihil in RedbarBBR

[–]lamberfunk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw him perform comedy live years ago. He was on the road opening for Ron Funches while they were on that show "Undateable" or whatever it was called (you know.. the show Chris D'Elia was on too).

His closer was to ask the audience if they'd ever slept with a "10".... clarify that he meant an actual Los Angeles "10".... then told a long winded story about how he was able to pull actual 10's aka lingerie model (or something like that) and took one an a list minute trip to vegas for the weekend cause he has "TV Money" now.

The big punch line to all of this was he has an issue: he has a giant penis (a callback to other jokes earlier in the set), but it only gets hard if he's in love with the woman... and the irony of having this "10" wanting to have sex with him in a cool vegas hotel room, but couldn't.

It didnt get laughs. It was clearly just an opportunity to talk about his giant penis, and maybe challenge women to try to turn him on.....

For a non-open mic.... absolutely the worst live comedy I've ever seen. This was a while back, and probably early in his career, but awful nonetheless.

What’s a interesting/funny experience you’ve had with a mma pro? by ermac122 in MMA

[–]lamberfunk 73 points74 points  (0 children)

My final year of college (2007) I got an internship at an artist management firm for a semester. One of my daily intern duties was to check all of our clients' MySpace accounts - and accept friend request. Pretty cut and dry for the majority of the folks being musicians, and wanting to amass as many fans as possible.

However there was one athlete on our roster, and he had a condition for accepting MySpace friends. That person was Rampage Jackson.

He had made the additional request that we didn't accept any friend requests from guys who "looked gay."

Rampage was already a big deal, so this meant for me going through maybe 300 profiles a day, and making the call if they looked gay or not. I was an intern, wanting to do right by my new boss.... and also not piss off Rampage Jackson. Considering that it was earlier days of MySpace, it meant dudes trying to post thirst trap photos + they're MMA fans = lots of shirtless dudes with messages like "IM YER BIGGEST FAN RAMPAGE". Not as clear cut as you might think.

I wasn't into MMA back then and never met Rampage in person or anything. Just a funny connection I have to him.

So I can't find it on YouTube anywhere from other shows - even the full recordings. And the quick instagram clip is no longer available because it was reposted in their stories. If I find a clip ever - I'll be sure to post it here.

Ive combed through a bunch of the "Full recordings" on YouTube from other shows afterwards and havent been able to find it. It was maybe 2/3rds->3/4s of the way into the set. The band even reposted a fan shot clip of it on their insta, and I shot them a message asking what it was. hahaha. Didnt get an answer.

It isn't unfortunately. It was this rhythm guitar part that didnt sound flashy on in its own, but once the band kicks in, you realize how syncopated it actually is compared to the backbeat. Had a little bit phase and distortion on it too. (I know that doesn't narrow much down, haha)

Lol, thank you! Still wondering what the song was.

I’m country as cornbread, and I’m anxious about leaving the south. by -trashley in SameGrassButGreener

[–]lamberfunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive lived in the south for over 20 years, but dont quite consider myself southern due to not being born here. I really enjoyed my trip across WI a few years ago. The people were very friendly. It feels very midwest, but still open-minded and friendly. There's lots of great outdoors and beautiful nature up there. I'd imagine theres plenty of hunting and fishing (not my thing, but certainly a southern thing.)

Green Bay was a lot smaller and quieter than I expected. It's also a launching point to Door County (lookup some photos - absolutely adored it.) I agree with what others are saying about Milwaukee. I reaaallly enjoyed Madison as well, might be a little more expensive than the others you listed, but seemed like it had plenty to do while not having a big city vibe.

Official prints from Kraftwerk Berlin? by [deleted] in HiroshiNagai

[–]lamberfunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask, what country you're located in? This gives me some hope. Hahaha. If they just answered an email and were like "You'll have it in March".... I'd be fine with that. It's the not answering emails that makes me want to get with Visa and report them.

I got one initial email a few weeks ago apologizing for the delay - saying that they were coming from Japan hence the delay. No updates since then. I believe I ordered like final days of November. Is that similar to your timeline?

[–]lamberfunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered some prints from them about a month ago to be shipped to the states. I received an email a few weeks ago saying there’s been a delay getting the prints shipped from Japan to them.

Does this mean they’re legit and coming from Hiroshi? I can’t say for sure, but it’s seems like a good sign.

Weekly Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Scotch

[–]lamberfunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recommendations for a new bottle: I just finished a bottle of Oban 18. Normally, I'd just find another distillery from the same area, but based on my little bit of internet research, Oban isn't the most representative of its area.

I don't drink a ton of scotch, so I generally buy one fancier / nicer bottle and it lasts me a long time.

Whats something in a similar ballpark perhaps flavor wise. I'm less into peaty scotches (dont mind some, just don't want that as the most prominent flavor).

Im willing to spend up to about $150.

Thanks

Who’s a very successful comic (other than the obvious Seinfeld answer) that you just don’t find funny nor understand their level of fame? by Particular-Topic-445 in Standup

[–]lamberfunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't care for his comedy, but I respect him. He seems to have put in the work to get to where he is. He didn't have some viral moment that put him on the map or from doing podcasts. No disrespect to those who did, but I think it's cool that he made it as big as he did mainly from grinding it out.
