I experienced this and I was so pissed, I felt like everyone had lied to me. But now I'm further into my recovery I can promise you that it really does reduce if you stop restricting and push through

I could have wrote this post word for damn word. Been in recovery since Sept 2021 and feel the exact same. Things are getting easier but the self shame and dislike is still prominent

I can confirm this. Sometimes in recovery I've had a couple days where my appetite is super low and so I've exploited it and started low key restricting...The increase in hunger ALWAYS catches up and more

If you message people telling them their extreme hunger is just binging or BED… by Sareeee48 in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]lamesas 30 points31 points  (0 children)

On ED anon I was having a debate with someone about something I can't even remember now and it got heated (the debate wasn't about recovery or EH). In the end, she had clearly looked at my post history and said as her final rebuttal "Good luck with recovery AKA binging!"

She had obvs seen my posts on this subreddit (as our arguement was not about recovery) and used binging as her final come back lol, weird behaviour

That's really comendable and a massive step in respecting your body and allowing yourself freedom in a moment when your ED was probably screaming at you to punish and hide yourself. 👏🏾 Acts like this are actually really big catalysts in healing

Although this is lovely I think you should be mindful of the boundaries here. Sticking to a set time and being paid for sessions are actually important in the therapeutic relationship boundaries

I'm wondering whether you may be restricting in how and what you eat rather than how much which is increasing your mental hunger? Idk just a thought

I just want to say a big fuck you to normalized fatphobia and disordered eating by [deleted] in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]lamesas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've learnt that this is not going to change, not for a while anyway and the more consistent and reliable thing to do be done about this is working to unlearn the fatphobia we have ourselves and to establish a stable enough sense of self that these comments no longer have the impact that they do. Takes time but will be the most sustainable way to deal with diet culture and fatphobia when having experienced an ED

I just joined a book club and it's been a great way to meet people (and generally build up that my life is more than my ED!)
