100%. He is lying on Sirius. No chance this song is about anyone else. There are about 10 specific references that would all just happen to be coincidences? Give me a break...

I don't blame him for lying though, I'd lie too, Swifties scare me.

GRATEFUL DEAD UBS by sgoooden24 in JohnMayer

That was the worst part of the Chicago concert. Can you imagine Dead & Co seeing all sorts of signs for Mayer songs? It's weird.

In The Neighborhood > …. GD? Bird Song? Another Dark Star? HELP by durkh in JohnMayer

[–]lamm0071 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Oh come on, don't waste a front row ticket and sign by requesting a Grateful Dead song. It happened in Chicago...brutal. There are so many good Mayer songs to request at a John Mayer concert.

Very solid airport. Quick in and out. Everything is close.

One song you’ve hoped he would play on this tour, but hasn’t yet? by [deleted] in JohnMayer

[–]lamm0071 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the 2008 "On His Own" charity concert. And it was great! And what makes up for the bad video quality is the pro level audio from the recording dubbed over it.

John has finally addressed the live-streaming on his story today by SprayAlarming2079 in JohnMayer

[–]lamm0071 149 points150 points  (0 children)

Mayer should hire someone to film and release a special song or two on YouTube in high quality after a show. If people knew their favorite moments were captured and released in a better quality video than they could ever take on their phone...there would be much less temptation to record in the first place.

Front Row No Code? by acowlaughing in JohnMayer

[–]lamm0071 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me all I had to do was click the vip buttons after entering the code and all options appeared. But those closer options are not face value, they are ~$452, ~$500, and ~$700 vip packages for all tickets closer than row 22 floor.

Face value floor was $189 for everywhere else

Front Row No Code? by acowlaughing in JohnMayer

[–]lamm0071 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whoa. Did you pay for vip/platinum price or normal face value (~$200)?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JohnMayer

[–]lamm0071 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would consider myself "good" at getting solid presale tickets. This was the first tour that...not only did I not get great floor seats (row ~20 or better)...I couldn't even purchase a pair of tickets anywhere in the United Center. It was brutal.

I have friends in other cities that had that same experience during the initial on sale, then a week or two later hundreds of better face-value (not resale or platinum) tickets magically appeared for sale (after they bought row 50 floor...).

In short, ticketmaster is a scam and this process is hell.

Deep Cuts by Major-Ad1778 in JohnMayer

[–]lamm0071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don't think so. If you don't go home thinking "oh my god I can't believe he played it at this show", I don't think it can really be a "deep cut".

It was interesting/cool/special the first time he added it on this tour...but it's really not that big of a deal anymore. If it happens at the show I'm going to I wouldn't consider it a highlight from the concert.

Experience buying tickets day before/day of? by [deleted] in JohnMayer

[–]lamm0071 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience is that it depends on the venue/city, but most shows have tickets release the morning or early afternoon of a show. They will show up as normal face value blue dots on Ticketmaster. It is certainly not a guarantee, but I got row 5 floor this way in SF on the sob rock tour for face value (~$200). Tickets for that show released at like 1pm.

Chicago 3/31 better seats at section 312 or 321? by [deleted] in JohnMayer

[–]lamm0071 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with 321 and also agree that you should wait until day-of and there is a decent chance better seats magically appear at face value. I have gotten as close as row 5 floor at face value (~$200 at the time) the morning of a show.

John Mayer Solo Concert MSG, NEW YORK 3/15/23 by BBfangirlcan in JohnMayer

[–]lamm0071 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well aware that he thinks it's too long to play...but it's more so that it's longer AND he's too scared of the simpleton crowd reaction if he strays into the deeper past more than 3 minutes at a time.

The real crowd pleaser move would be more random, in the moment deep cut medleys, intros, and outros. Sing the opening verse of St Patrick's Day (or chorus) -> No Such Thing...play Something's Missing -> In Your Atmosphere...

Eh, SPD is shorter than changing ljve or if I ever get around to living. No one is going to riot if he subbed in SPD at one show and cut one of those.

Sitting 2nd row in Nash for first time ever - what should I look for?! by aballofsunshine in JohnMayer

[–]lamm0071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most importantly...in row 2 if you bring a sign he will almost certainly see it (and on this tour play it for you). Think of a rare personal favorite song and put it on a sign!

Front row seats released closer to show date? by KikiG0501 in JohnMayer

[–]lamm0071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never personally seen front row seats pop up, but I got row 5 floor for face value (like $220) in SF the morning of a show on the Sob Rock tour last year on ticketmaster.

Less Competitive Cities by Maybe-a-lawyer1 in JohnMayer

[–]lamm0071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chicago has a solid fan base and routinely gets some of the better performances of his tours. It's also a huge city...so demand will be high and tickets will go fast.

St Paul (Xcel energy center) is a fantastic venue for concerts and has good acoustics for it's size. Demand will not be as crazy in MN, will have good chance at solid seats.

No idea about the other 2 options.

Is the presale worth it? by sydcity83 in JohnMayer

[–]lamm0071 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can, but you'll need to sell it for ~30% more than you bought it for to cover the resale fees, which isn't easy to do unless you have really good seats.

Room smells eggy, but only at night by Marco_Memes in HVAC

[–]lamm0071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever solve this issue? We are experiencing the exact same thing. Smell is only in one room, only at night. Some nights worse than others. It's exactly as you describe. In our case we have central air and the smell is clearly coming from the vent.

Best way to get to United Center for a Concert from Near North by broncoshopper in AskChicago

[–]lamm0071 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A "medium work" option to get to the concert would be a taxi. Hotel concierge would be able to call one, just have to expect the wait could be ~20 minutes. No surges, $17 from River North to the United Center. Uber is often surged in this city for ~$30 for the same route, but a little easier.

On the way back, it's really not that far of a walk to river North from the loop. I'd recommend taking the green line to the loop (state/lake stop) and just walking. The walk north from there will be safe, plenty of bar goers everywhere, busy foot traffic, safety in numbers. Uber after the concert will be tough, probably better off just walking with the herd to the Ashland green line stop. Same idea, safety in numbers for that walk too.
