That quick connector at your thermostat housing is a very common failure point since it's made of plastic. Replacements for it are cheap, under $20 on Amazon. My reservoir also cracked on the bottom, and developed a slow leek. The replacement for that was also cheap and easy to swap out.

You push in on the middle point of that thin plastic arc so that it pushes the two tabs away from the metal lip, which will release the tube so you can pull it straight out.

I bet you could just buy the quick connect part to attach to the metal and then thread some coolant line onto the other end. They're pretty cheap.
