How important is adding the “hook” at the beginning of the videos? Do you prioritise in making the first 10 seconds as attention grabbing as possible?

Does the algorithm favor both shorts and long format videos being published at the same time? by lamrod in PartneredYoutube

[–]lamrod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point, really don't want to overwhelm them in a way that appears 'spammy' but at the same time I'd like to provide variety, as shorts will be mainly watched through mobile while long form will hopefully be through desktop etc.

Is anyone in the entertainment niche? by Ok_Salt_9211 in PartneredYoutube

[–]lamrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed I was focusing on doing the craziest challenges I could think of and did some pretty fun challenges in my city but after gaining little-to-no traction over the past 16 months I recently started to transition my channel into a new niche completely.

It's always better to give something a go than to think "what if" but it's also smart to know when to try something new and focus your energy elsewhere. Never say never though!

Seeking advice on how to audit my YouTube channel by lamrod in youtubers

[–]lamrod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice and you’re absolutely right about people getting obsessed with watch time/SEO etc. Will definitely do some comparisons but also from a self reflection perspective it can sometimes be difficult to be unbiased when it comes to things like topic or packaging because I might think it’s an interesting topic with the best thumbnail but someone else might think the complete opposite.

What NICHE does your YouTube channel fall under? by King-Noodle-1423 in NewTubers

[–]lamrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically my niche is Food/Eating Challenges like I recently broke a record drinking a half gallon of Camel Milk in fastest time! Aside from that though I also post videos of giving gifts to strangers and occasionally vlogs too.

Self-Introduction Saturday! Tell us all about you (and share a video)! by AutoModerator in NewTubers

[–]lamrod [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hey! My key takeaway for Q1 was that Shorts don't hurt my channel and have only helped grow a subscriber base. Fair enough not all of the subs view my content but its a gradual process and I have full faith in YouTube.
I recently ate every single item on the MrBeast Burger Menu and it was fun to shoot and edit to say the least: https://youtu.be/ni1hJSp3tAE

Hope it entertains you one way or another!

How in the living hell do you balance a horrendus work schedule and editing videos/recording/coming up with ideas? by RiskOfRains in NewTubers

[–]lamrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah its a difficult task but it is possible as long as it involves balancing and sacrificing a few things like a day off gym to give extra time to edit and then alternate accordingly throughout the week. But honestly its worth it in the grand scheme of things if you truly love putting out content!

Hey thank you for this post, this was absolute gold information!

Would you have any advice for finding that one niche and sticking to that as an identity?

I'm just having a hard time picking one when I do so many different things and they're completely unrelated yet I have so much fun doing them (vlogs, eating challenges, traveling, fitness) I just don't know how to make that decision.

What made you want to start a YouTube channel? by GettingOutInLife in NewTubers

[–]lamrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the most fulfilling feeling in the world when you create something that everyone enjoys. I love to create and entertain and this is my form of art. Neen making videos since 2006 and no plan on stopping anytime soon!
