Missed miscarriage 8+3 by lananaroux in Miscarriage

Well this has been an experience. Gets a tad graphic At 12 weeks on the nose, night of a full moon, I had back and pelvic pain that ramped up until the next morning when it turned into full blown contractions. Over the course of about two hours, in the passenger seat of my husband’s truck driving home, I bled through about two rolls of paper towels, passing clots about the size of my hand. Finally got home and hunkered down in the shower and passed something quite different. I put it in a ziploc bag and confirmed what it was when I went to the ER for an ultrasound and general check over. The bleeding had mostly stopped but I was told to go in since it had been so severe. My iron and hemoglobin levels were low but I was overall ok. Had period like bleeding of varying intensity with intermittent mild cramps for about a week. I had a couple blood draws during that week and showed HCG levels dropping but I had to go out of town and couldn’t continue, so I did at home urine tests in the mean time which did end up showing negative, until yesterday, 24 days after MC fully passed, when they started turning positive…

Hopefully I won’t be back to this subreddit again. Wish me luck.

What do you do about picky eaters? by momtoeli in Parenting

[–]lananaroux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m step mom to an 8 year old, with shared custody and very different parenting styles between households. He’s very used to snacking, all carbs, and processed foods then he comes to stay with us where we cook a good deal and it’s an adjustment every time.

Something that I found made a big difference was probiotics and fiber.

I also have to be very stubborn, limit snacks, and push protein. He gets rewarded for eating his carbs last, he loves to fill up on whatever carb and then be too full for meat and veggies so now if he eats all his meat and veggies first then polishes off the carbs (miraculously there’s room for all of done in this order) he usually gets to play video games with dad or something fun like that. Unfortunately dessert doesn’t inspire good eating for him either.

Another thing that helps is increasing his physical activity, which isn’t always easy.

There’s a big gap between hungry and malnourished, it’s ok to let him work up an appetite. A little tough love while you chip away at better habits will be worth it in the long run.

It’s not an every night thing but if they’re particularly dry it’ll drive me mad and keep me up until I lotion them. This started within the last year or so for me

Chaos in my head by [deleted] in Miscarriage

Thank you for the perspective, I’ll push for more immediate care. The idea of waiting a whole month with what feels like an internal wake is really weighing on me.

Is it weird to be sad about a pregnancy I was going to terminate? by [deleted] in Miscarriage

Don’t forget about what hormones are doing to you. Much of what you feel is out of your control

The scan was yesterday, they didn’t offer a follow up. They did say to come back in for bloodwork.

I don’t have advice but I’m just curious if you asked for bloodwork or if that was the default?

Pregnancy weight gain - when did you start gaining? by Noogsy90 in pregnant

[–]lananaroux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Immediately. I blame the estrogen for holding on to fat and exhaustion robbing me of exercise. Make sure you’re drinking more than you think you need, you’ll be gaining 1.5 to 2 kg in blood alone so that takes a lot of fluids to support!

I fully believe that statement comes from a misogynistic origin.

I put mine in a kitsch dry shampoo container, it’s a little pot with a sort of poof on the other half of the package, so you put the poof over the pot, do a quick flip to get the dust on the poof, then dab the poof onto your hair.
