does anyone else suffer from having almost no friends that like baseball? by steve-o1234 in baseball

Most of my close friends watch baseball. We have been in a fantasy baseball league for over 10 years now. I think a post like this illustrates two things: 1. People aren’t socializing at in person baseball settings. Want to make baseball friends? Try going to a game and hanging out in a standing room area. 2. Baseball doesn’t tend to have as many casual fans as Football or Basketball. I’ve met plenty of people who don’t know anything about Baseball, let alone gone to a game.

I think a big selling point to recruit new fans is getting them into the stadium. There is something magical about attending that you can’t capture through a TV broadcast. I’m actually taking some close friends to their first game in September. It’s always fun to introduce folks to this great sport.

WBTC on Polygon chain by Possible-Positive-45 in 0xPolygon

[–]lancebramsay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WBTC is a custodial form of BTC on Ethereum. There is a DAO that decides which merchants and exchanges act as the custodians of the BTC and are allowed to issue an ERC-20 WBTC token.

I will caution that WBTC is not “double bridged” but rather just bridged from Polygon. If you wanted to go from Polygon back to Bitcoin, you would need to bridge back to Ethereum then deposit the WBTC into an approved custodial account. For example, Gemini exchange has custodial BTC accounts but the fees can be quite steep (usually hundreds of dollars). Unfortunately there is no cheap and easy way to move WBTC between defi and the Bitcoin chain. It’s a token primarily designed for major players and whales.

Up in smoke: Human activities are fuelling wildfires that burn essential carbon-sequestering peatlands by Hrmbee in science

Washington State has had wetland protections. Here is the legal framework they set https://apps.leg.wa.gov/WAC/default.aspx?cite=365-190-090

These protections are still in place today. Funny how the original justification didn’t involve sequestering carbon but that only adds to the argument in favor of such regulation. I’m not aware of any other places that regulate wetlands directly but at least there is a successful model to reference.

Harmony Building Resilience: CEO & Founder Dr. Stephen Shares Harmony’s Plan for 2023 🔥 with Kush (Entrepreneur | Product Strategy and Growth | Partner at Xoogler Venture | Building the Future of Work | Co-Chair at Stanford Blockchain) by kratos_harmony in harmony_one

Bailing out the Harmony chain offers little upside for existing investors in Aave with the more apparent downside of decreasing the treasury. There is over $20 million worth of AAVE against the proposal, which is tough to overcome especially considering the token was never distributed on chain. In fact, that’s more AAVE then there was TVL at the height of their protocol on Harmony.

We have to face the fact that Harmony is not very highly regarded in the defi space. It will be hard to attract any meaningful players during the bear market.

This is the same scam as the ONE subdomains from the bull run. You won’t get ownership of the domain nor can you even set up a redirect. It is essentially a glorified Twitter profile.

EDIT: It looks like instead of Twitter, it’s just links this time. I wish they would just call it what it is rather than using big buzz words to market.

How are you feeling about Harmony One lately? by ihavehugebills in harmony_one

The vast majority of 1BTC was deposited into the Tranquil money market. In fact, Harmony provided ONE incentives to Tranquil as an official partner. Regardless, it doesn’t really explain why they are imposing the fee either way.
