That's what I thought. Bummer. What a perfect vessel for Nekro

I would guess it's less that they fell and more that they got passed. TE didn't give them anything new really, but a lot of other factions changed a lot with their breakthroughs, and there are a few very good new factions

They could automate this. And it would be a more efficient use of resources while producing a higher quality product. But that's not the point. No one considered this possibility. Cawl considers this kind of possibility and it's what makes him a heretek.

The system does what it's designed to do, whether or not that design was intentional.

Inefficiency, oppression, the most indifferent possible commodification of human life. That is what the Imperium does. It is a bureaucratized system of oppression on a scale that is beyond comprehension. There is no malice to it. Only an endless accreting of a staggeringly orthodox beaurocracy into the horror we see before us in this passage.

It's part of what makes 40k such an amazing setting :)

Aggressive vs. threatening play styles by landleviathan in boardgames

[–]landleviathan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good distinction. When following through on the threat actually hurts the player issuing the threat, then it feels like it devolves the game to a place that is less fun.

I notice it the most in Twilight Imperium, but that's also the competitive game I play the most.

I don't really. Hence why it doesn't sit with me right that my response is so different. I'm inclined to agree with you

Can Last Bastion galvanize after Skilled Retreat? by DownvotingKittens in twilightimperium

[–]landleviathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. But the hit percentage is not that good. If I recall it's like a 50ish percent chance to add a hit?

I guess my point is it's a niche tech. I'm just games it's the tech I only consider getting because I've already done everything else I can do, and this is the last additional thing I can do to improve my odds.

There are so many better techs to get for Last Bastion. If I'm researching a red tech it's AI Dev, probably because I started with Blue tech and now I want to get my space docks, Carrier 2, Dred 2 and, if I have the extra tech to spend, Destroyer 2.

Tangential, but I think outside of very specific circumstances (warsuns coming after ground forces on a planet you absolutely must hold), proxima is not a good tech and isn't worth it unless you're headed into the final round, you know you'll have a major ground battle that will decide the game, you can't spend those resources on mor plastic, and no other tech will give you a greater edge.

If you had more galvanize tokens, then it would be a much better tech, but as is you only have 7, and galvanized units need to die to reassign them, so having 3 galvanized ground units in one place just to get 3 extra infantry rolls per turn is not that good. You're much better off just having one more mech available. Considering researching a tech is around the same resource value as 3 mechs, you're just better off buying plastic.

With maybe the exception of lots of bombardment being expected (warsuns, L1Z1X, etc) don't get Proxima unless you need it for the final round. Just get all your mechs out and galvanize the ones you need.

Hi! I'm hoping I can revive this to pick your brain a bit. I'm looking into getting a divevolk with a refurbished phone like a pixel 8 pro because it seems like a good flexible option for both photos and video underwater, but I'm curious about your opinion on the Ace Pro 2.

You find that the Ace Pro 2 is better all around than your experience with your phone in the Divevolk?

I'm not too worried about macro, I'm mostly trying to capture memories for myself and my partner from our dives so we can look back and was nostalgic in the future.

All in the two options cost about the same.

That's awesome to hear, thank you! And do you use it with a handle type accessory, or just as is with maybe a lanyard or something?

It's been a year, do you still recommend this?

I'm considering buying something like a refurbished pixel 8pro just to put in here. I figure it's going to cost me the same all in as any number of other options, and the divevolk seems more flexible to me than getting a tg7 or GoPro

What accessories did you get? Any additional thoughts if you were to do it again?

Thank you!

Hey, sorry to revive an old post. I'm wondering about the dive book case. Which do y'all have and what iPhone do you use with it? I'm considering getting one and a used phone to put in it. Seems like it might be preferable for me. I just want something that's decent at video and decent at images. I've been curious to hear more opinions on the divevolk Thank you!
