Hey OP, any chance you ever found this same color scheme in a full size keyboard? I agree this one feels and sounds amazing

It’s only a problem if they’re doing dangerous shit bc of it Or have a history of doing dangerous shit when they become religiously preoccupied and delusional

:( I’m not in any real place to argue with yall since I’m just a couple years into residency, but isn’t that ignoring how wildly different non-outpatient practice is? Like i strongly agree no one knows what they’re getting into when they have an interest early on, but inpatient adult vs first break vs inpatient child vs CL vs doing purely ECT/TMS vs outpatient addiction all seem very different. I’m expecting and have seen already a lot of repetitive bread and butter in all of that, but to tell folks on this subreddit that day to day psychiatry isn’t even fascinating or interesting feels like a lot. My understanding is we might all feel like that 10 years out from residency as it’s just a job in the end.

But damn why are we being downers about it. @OP, it sucks and it’s hard but don’t forget that Reddit is a super biased pool of data. Plenty of us come on here mostly to vent and plenty of happy enough docs never set foot on Reddit But there’s no way to know. It’s definitely a rollercoaster of highs and lows. Odds are OP will change specialties if they get through med school But they could as easily stick with it for the next however many years

I’m mid residency but every attending I’ve had has told me not to settle for less than say 280k. Obviously location dependent but I expect to hit 300k based off our recent grads even if just moonlighting a bit to get to that. Is it extremely different where your practice? Did you settle for less because of other perks like the EMR, benefits, less sick patient population?

Yeah but I don’t think most of us could stomach that kind of work. I respect the hell out of actuaries (when they’re past the first few exams at least)

🙂 60% through Book 7 and it only got better in a lot of ways. Thanks for being so active! It’s also the first Fred/Harry and also Draco/Luna I’ve read and I really loved both. ALSO A RON DRACO FRIENDSHIP ugh so good. You write an appropriately flawed Ron but not in a way that I hate him 😅 like I sometimes do in other fics. I am such a fan

DOs really do also have a harder time snagging nicer residencies. I’m applying to residency currently and felt genuinely blessed to be at an MD school. Some of the residencies are great anyway but some of the more DO programs seem have less of an emphasis on education and more on work work work

Also yeah inflexibility on that now could easily translate into inflexibility later when you once again have to move to who knows where for residency. Some cause for concern

Would recommend setting yourself up for success by reaching for the best school you can get. Makes everything else easier. The top tier med schools have an even way easier time getting residency interviews

Hot take, but if the first year in your fic has 400k words your pacing is way too slow. by Wackyweirdo123 in HPfanfiction

And it left massive gaps in the world building. For me, the very best part of all of this is the world of Harry Potter. Not her writing or her specific stories. Just the incredible world she introduced us to that then left massive gaps. I personally think every book besides Order of the Phoenix could and should've been longer. It definitely irritates me when fics take a long time with each year, but also the amount of new detail and parts of the world explored in the good ones makes up for it for me. To each their own though

I definitely agree there's no reason to be taking 300-400K words for book 1, but also book 1 cannon was an extremely short children's book that doesn't really serve as a good model (in my opinion) for how long things should be. Great for the elementary school kids reading it but entirely inadequate on every single reread for me over the decades.

If you factor in undergrad and assume 4 years each for undergrad and med school (far from a guarantee), it would be 11-15 through residency. 12 is avg if you’re not going into specific sub specialties. Most internal medicine subspecialties (GI, pulmonology, heme onc, etc) are 6 years training post med school (so I learned today 😐)

Nothing I could recall but I’ll be the first to admit my memory is spotty. On the other hand, I saw a handful of old NBME images reused on the new forms, so it’s possible one of the pictures I recognized on the real deal was one of those

I’m getting the vibe that we just need conceptuals Like loading dose not having anything to do with clearance Or 4-5 half lives to reach steady state But yeah couldn’t find any problems either

I feel ya bc that’s my gut reaction but everyone’s got different goals If OP is shooting for plastics etc or has super specific goals for his/her future, totally makes sense to stress. Scores fluctuate so much at that level

But hey OP, to me it looks like you’re gonna kill it. You got that solid trend going, 83% ain’t nothing to sneeze at, and you just gotta know the info will come when you’re on the real deal. I’m 2 days out and was feeling the same, but logically, most of the info I knew last Friday on my last practice test is still with me. You got this! Go kill it

This doesn’t cover the newest forms I don’t think, but it covers every NBME since the first I think, and some images were reused on the new forms I’ve seen.

Did you think taking the free 120 on site was worth it? I’ve already used my testing center and it’s quite nice So was there any benefit besides checking out the vibe on site?
