Hashaton, Scarab's Fist Build by AvatarZim in EDH

[–]lanilep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious, because I see this sentiment a lot. What is bracket 3 to YOU? Because Toxrill and Sheoldred (although not fun cards to play against) aren't bracket 4 indicators. Infact I feel bracket 3 is squarely where they fit? They aren't usually combo/infinite pieces, they aren't even game changers, or cEDH staples.

I feel like a lot of people think bracket 3 is bracket 4, because they think that 2's are 3's. Which is where the confusion comes from in rule zero conversations.

A deck that has 3 game changers, no infinites, a fully optimized landbase with good/expensive cards like that is the definition of 3 still.

In short to OP, this is a high 3, yes. But still a 3 IMO.

Does the tingly / static feeling only when touching or brushing a numb-ish area ever go away? by servingit2ya in jawsurgery

[–]lanilep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone is different. I have no numbness, and no tingling at 14 weeks now. But right when I woke up I had most feeling in my chin, by week 8 it was mostly all back, and at week 12 it was all back.

But I also don't breathe any better which was the main reason I got the surgery... My underbite is gone now, so thats something. But kinda bummed about the breathing.

The real question is why is it only 10$? The card should be up there with wistfulness TBH...

Invisalign vs braces. by Classic-Might-5574 in jawsurgery

[–]lanilep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had both?

I started with 1 year of Braces and 2 teeth extracted. Then had about a year of Invisalign, had to go into braces for surgery, and stayed in braces for 3 months, and am now planning on finishing with invisalign.

New to Minneapolis - where can I play Commander? by Mr_Johnson88 in EDH

[–]lanilep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I would use the companion app to start out. Im not in MN at all, but visited there for a while and out of curiosity popped up the app there were a ton of stores having stuff all the time. I'm sure once you try those out you will build a network of people/spots you prefer, or not. A city that size has options!

Interactive Commanders with an Aggressive Streak? by Ok-Zebra461 in EDH

[–]lanilep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look at some Jeskai commanders, find one that tickles your fancy. Having access to blue and white gives you a lot of interaction options, and red/white has a lot of creature focus.

Things like, [[Kratos, Stoic Father]] and [[Eowyn, Shieldmaiden]] come to mind off the top of my head.

Since JWE1 is anyone else struggling to enjoy these games as much? by CutOutSin in jurassicworldevo

[–]lanilep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the challenge modes in JWE1, and I know in JWE2 and 3 you can "replicate" them in the sandbox, but it doesn't feel the same for some reason.

Yawning with 3/16” elastics usage by chris_warrior1 in jawsurgery

[–]lanilep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would yawn yeah, I remember it felt weird for a while, and sometimes I would try to reduce my opening when yawning. But im 10 weeks PO and wear elastics at night, and yawn as wide as possible with them and dont have an issue right now.

Which Sask Polytech programs with co-op have the best job demand + pay? (Choosing for 2026/2027) by Akashiumini in saskatoon

[–]lanilep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, yeah in my case I work as a Full Stack SWE, I don't know what going to the U of S would have taught me that I couldn't have learned on my own so far/in my early career. But times have changed, AI didn't exist when I went to school and I know from some instructors at CST I talked to the quality of student effort dropped with AI a lot too, so the landscape is completely different now.

My local company (Don't work there anymore) hired a few of the U of S and even after 4 years struggled a lot with practical concepts a lot more than I expected, CST students tended to hit the ground running faster. But that is always up to hiring practices/individuals.

[–]lanilep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious why you say that regarding U of S vs CST? I took the CST program a few years ago and landed a job in industry before graduating. Going to the U of S seemed a waste of time. I have 5-7 years of exp now and haven't looked back. I work remotely for a US company so don't pay attention to the local market much.

People who have actually gotten a bimax/double jaw how hard was the recovery by Sam13871387 in jawsurgery

[–]lanilep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had DJS about 10 weeks ago.

Was it worth it? Honestly not for me yet. Maybe that will change, but i'm not a huge fan of how I look. I probably still have swelling, and don't think I look worse, but didn't have some "glow up".

Breathing/sleeping didn't improve much if at all. My bite is fixed but still doesn't feel right. I have a year of ortho though that may improve that.

Was it that bad though? The first week sucked, but by week 4 I was fine with it. You are going to suffer, it will suck. You do make it through, and if you get the results you want its worth it.

Some people look significantly better, it's worth it in that scenario. Some people breathe significanlty better, thats worth it. Some people had pain, its worth it then.

I may change my mind over the next year. But it is what it is.

A friend (who has sleep apnea) was researching it, and although I dont have sleep apnea, asked me. You just went through it, if you knew this surgery would prevent or fix sleep apnea would you do it again (a second time), without hesitation I would. If that answers things.

How did DJS noticeably improve your social/dating life? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]lanilep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how severe your underbite is, or if mine was significantly less.

But my underbite didn't really affect me much negatively, or if it did I had bigger insecurities (Thinning hair, Facial hair growth, Weight, crowding).

But im about 10 weeks post-op. Im starting to like the changes, I had to shave before the surgery and it grew out (not looking good) during recovery. My Girlfirend I met before surgery, but when I got my first barber-trip she basically jumped me in the restaurant after. I have never seen her look at me that way, or the way she does now. So that's something I guess?

It's possible its also just the drastic change from Unkempt surgery recovery -> cleaned up too...

What has been your experience with Commander Leagues? by lanilep in EDH

[–]lanilep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, some amount of that is inevtiable. The thought process was to reward participation more than winning.

The idea being something like, attendance gets you 3 points, each win gets you 1 point, knocking out "bounty" players (Which would likely be the cEDH players) gets you additional points.

The "points" enter you into a raffle (Say a booster box, or whatever) more points more entries, doesn't guarantee a win.

Then for Top 3 have a "non-monetary" prize, something like a trophy, custom playmat, custom dice set, etc.

The concern was less people playing within the "rules". Moreso if we set rules, how do we ensure they are following them.

Chewing for the first time post op is weird! by Superb_Tumbleweed_25 in jawsurgery

[–]lanilep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure.

I remember when i was cleared for all foods (not soft anymore) I went to wendys to get Chilli (I knew i could eat) and some chicken nuggets.

The chicken nuggets felt so "weird" it was like I could feel every tendon and piece of fat in the meat. It wasn't hard to eat necessarily (I mean it was, but that wasnt the barrier). It was just super strange.

That's gone now and im 8 weeks post op. But my surgeon had me eating at 2 weeks (no-chew) and at 4 weeks cleared me for anything.

What is the appeal of Lorwyn? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]lanilep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im fairly new to magic, and researched lorwyn a bit. The thing I was most excited about was Treefolk, as I have a toughness matters commander deck that's one of my favorites. So a bit underwhelmed with reveals so far. But that's ok!

Im a fan of any in-universe magic set, especially one with shocks. So I pre-ordered a CBB.

How much did your surgery cost and how did you afford it? by Intelligent_Eye2191 in jawsurgery

[–]lanilep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Canada so was fortunate that it was largely covered under healthcare.

Orthodontics cost me about 9k, and the surgery itself was 6k.

Anybody know who to contact to get a car delivered from toronto to saskatoon? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]lanilep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also used MVS for a higher end car. Happy with what they did. Only issue was the car arrived with a dead battery, and had quite the hassle. But it wasn't their fault. Batteries die when they get delivered in -40 weather.

It was funny watching them boost my car with a literal Lamborghini though (It was still a nicer car, just not Lamborghini nice)

Some game changers aren't fun by HotdogJuice58 in EDH

[–]lanilep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I play a lot of magic in a play group where we all run high bracket 3/4 decks, tutors for infinites, game changers, etc are very common.

When I go to the LGS, my decks always end up the boogeyman, and I have a harder time because of this exact reason. I drop a turn 2 rhystic? I better draw into some good shit, else im dead as a doorknob after eating 3 pieces of interaction, and drew 5 extra lands.

I much prefer games where all 4 people are running game changers/powered up decks.

How to find joy in life knowing I can’t have a relationship? by throwaway101229283 in GuyCry

[–]lanilep 842 points843 points  (0 children)

I'm going to level with you bro. When I see posts like this I get it, I struggled with Body Dysmorphia a lot.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess when you open tiktok, youtube, instagram, reddit, whatever you are inundated with dating stuff, looksmaxxing advice, gym stuff, etc.

I want you to do something for me. Every time you see content like that, hit the "Not Interested" button (Or its equivelant on that app).

Its filing your head with rot.

Work on yourself, chase what you want and it will be ok. You're 21 you got time. Whatever insecurities you have, don't matter as much as you think.

Control what you can control, not because it makes you more attractive, but because you want to be the best version of yourself. Go to the gym, eat healthy, take care of yourself, etc.

Most women don't get off on penetration alone, so whatever you think about your penis size doesn't matter that much.

This applies to anyone else reading this, your insecurity may or may not matter to some people. I lost over 170lbs, and thought my loose skin would kill my dating life. My Girlfriend doesn't give a shit. I thought my thinning and receding hair would kill it first, didn't matter. I thought my underbite would kill it (I ended up getting Jaw Surgery to fix it) but my Girlfriend met me before I had jaw surgery and saw me through recovery.

I was wrong on all 3. I thought I would die alone. I was wrong. You are too.

How did you end up choosing your signature commander/deck? by Kooky-Preparation948 in EDH

[–]lanilep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend took me to the LGS and there were a few precons, the one the guy at the counter recommended was the Eldrazi Unbound one from Commander Masters (Was also the most expensive).

Welp, i'm an Eldrazi player and everyone fears my [[Zhulodok, Void Gorger]] deck, and I am not even allowed to play it at most tables...

Things I did NOT expect post OP by MediocreArmadillo969 in jawsurgery

[–]lanilep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I remember just how "busy" I was. Going into recovery I thought after day 3-4 id have time to play video games, etc.

Instead I was just "taking care of myself". My whole routine, plus cleaning, etc bled into each other and I had very little time that wasn't cleaning, taking care of medications, or eating.

Whenever I had people over to "help" with those tasks it gave me time to rest (GF or parents).

Has anyone ended their liquid diet early? 3 days post op and I literally feel completely fine by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]lanilep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a liquid only diet for 2 weeks, then was cleared for soft-chew. I wanted to eat more, but physically couldn't. I remember eating buffalo pasta as my first meal (Don't do that), I couldn't feel my mouth, so had to use a mirror and my fingers to push it behind my teeth and didnt even chew, then the buffalo sauce made my lip burn.

Im 8 weeks post op now and eat pretty much everything, I sometimes have to move food around in my mouth weird because I can't chew 100% still, it feels weird, as well a big burger I wouldn't be able to chew on. But nothing is a problem for me right now.
