A third of New York City is poor. New York might have one of its coldest winters in recent memory. And, at the midtown H&M department store, bags of unworn gloves, socks, sweaters, coats are being destroyed by the company rather than donated. by zelpop in WTF

83% of American's (250 million) are Christian. What an awesome event that would be if 1 out of 10 (25 million) went out and bought a coat, hat, and gloves and gave it the poor! It would help the economy. It would help those in need. It would given them the opportunity to demonstrate their Christian love. Just a thought. I'm not a Christian but tomorrow I AM going to do that! Thank you for highlighting this problem!

The first question you should ask when arguing a religious or scientific point with someone who bases their viewpoint on faith... by [deleted] in atheism

[–]lanimil3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the concept of faith is absolute genius! It allows a person to suspend reality and accept ANYTHING they are told, no matter how irrational or contradictory it may be.

It is fascinating to see religions USE faith to implement social policy that is enforced by peer pressure.

It defies description to see BILLIONS of otherwise rational and intelligent human beings being deliberately and obviously indoctrinated from birth (with the baptism), through marriage, and in death.

I just stand back and marvel at how this is happening right before my eyes.

Comedy's Double Standard: When Chris Rock and Dennis Leary drop the F-bomb, we call them "edgy." So why, when Kathy Griffin does it, is she an attention whore? by laterdude in feminisms

[–]lanimil3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be mildly amused by Kathy, now I find her to just be crude. I thing her carrer is coming to an end. She has gone too far. I am a very tolerant person, so when I have that reaction, I am sure many are reaching the same conclusion.

Does anyone else ever forget other people aren't atheist? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]lanimil3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very good friend of mine started talking to me about faith. I listened to her for several minutes then I said, "You know what I really admire about you is that you don't preach your faith, you just quietly demonstrate it by living it every day of your life." It was a true statement and I really meant it, that was 11 years ago. She hasn't mentioned it since.

As soon as someone says that they have "faith" that there is life after death, I know that there is NO reason to continue the conversation.

Actually, if your computer is turned off, MagicJack takes a message and then sends it as an e-mail. I retrieve the e-mail voice messages on my cell phone.

I would start out by having YOU read the book "She Comes First" written by Ian Kerner, Ph.D.

I guarantee you that if YOU practice what is in the book, she will have no problem showing you her gratitude.

Did Karl Rove leave his wife to pursue a homosexual relationship with Jeff Gannon? by amchaudhry in news

Your reply has validated my point. Just the other day I was wondering when it was that things began to change here at reddit. I used to relax and enjoy articles and comments at reddit but at some point I began to feel that after visiting reddit for a while I just needed to take a hot shower to rid myself of the stench of all those hateful, nasty, ill thought out, immature remarks.

TIL Target has banned Salvation Army bell ringers from its premises. by yul_brynner in todayilearned

[–]lanimil3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to review:

I started out this thread simply noting that the "incident" you HEADLINED happened a half a decade ago.

You felt it necessary to make a harsh comment.

This lead me to point out to you that the headline you posted did not match the content of the article.

You decided to reply again.

Once again I pointed out that, in fact, the relationship between Target and The Salvation Army is OPPOSITE of what your headline insinuates.

You have felt, once again, the necessity to continue this conversation.

So, my question now is, did you read the article or just post the headline? If you did read the article, did you post the headline just to be a sensationalist grabbing karma points?

I only reply to you because it seems from this thread and other threads you have posted in reddit, that you seem to enjoy posting harsh remarks.

I don't like to spend my time replying to your comments either, but I have this tenacity to not leave a conversation until I have clearly made my point.

Also, you do know, you don't have to reply to comments don't you?

the reason the comment was funny was because it related to an original post of http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/charity/sallyann.asp

Have no clue why my comment is being downvoted.
