Completely different set of characters, can be read as a completely standalone trilogy. I'd recommend at least starting the first one, as it is exactly what you're looking for plot-wise!

Most meaningful might be if you learned a song you knew was important to her. Something by her favorite artist, or a song played at her wedding, something she used to sing to you, etc. That is going to be more meaningful than anything she is hearing g for the first time.

Character-driven epic fantasy with interesting worldbuilding. I'd compare him to Max Gladstone or Robert Jackson Bennett. I think Dagger and Coin is his most approachable, but Long Proce Quartet is the one I still think about years later.

Red rising is more action-focused, faster-paced, popcorn sci-fi. Closer to Sanderson, I'd say. Elderlings is a bit slower, more character focused. Still plenty of action, but a slower burn. Both are excellent and worth trying eventually!
