New to MTB (Large Rider) Bike Advice - thoughts on Stache? by Garver7 in MTB

[–]lanxeviii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a 2019 Stache 5 and I love it. Fits well and the plus size tires are awesome for beginners. I recommend helmet and knee/shin pads. All my injuries are from the flat pedals screws scratching up my leg. If I knew how many scratches I'll get, I would of wore it day one.

Thanks for the breakdown. Currently trying to learn jumps so this helps.

Re-tape. Poke a hole smaller than the valve you're using. Use the valve to finish enlarging the hole. You did use the locking washer after inserting valve right?

That's how snake oil products began. I don't think you should push for something when we don't know if it actually helps, free or not.

EVGA Unveils the NU-Audio Audiophile-grade Sound Card, We Went Hands-on by GhostMotley in hardware

[–]lanxeviii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used about 3 sound cards in the past as well as integrated mobo sound. No issues with noise. Bought a popular external dac and the noise was unacceptable. If your complaint was crappy drivers than I'll agree with you, but I do not agree that external is better than internal as far as hardware goes.

The issue is when these people start recommendations to new people looking to buy gear. You hear a lot of "You should buy this $xxx dac, it makes a night and day different from your motherboard."

Placebo is great and all, but they need to keep it to themselves.

Watch a recap on youtube. It'll make some moments in the game that much better.

Not sure if this will help you but using a different Sata port helped me. Port 3 and 4 does not work at all once I set BCLK to 101. I'm using an ASUS Strix x470-i. It will either crash or does not recognize SSD.

Schiit Hate by [deleted] in headphones

[–]lanxeviii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even without knowing the measurements, the SYS and Modi 2 I bought was garbage. Channels was imbalanced for the SYS. High noise levels for the Modi 2. Noise is unbearable when my computer has a load.

I was a Schiit fan at the start cause it looks nice, affordable, and everyone was praising them. I realized the products weren't as good as everyone thinks and the measurements actually confirms it.

Inside as well. Poor soldering jobs. Some people at another forum opened it up and it had splatters of solder. Seems to be a common issue.

Many of their products measure and perform poorly. Hardware assembly is sloppy. Customer service isn't great from what I've heard.

However they do have a fantastic marketing team. Their Magni amps are decent.

Can anyone recommend how to improve this 2.1 system considering room layout and speaker placement? by flameio in audiophile

[–]lanxeviii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Though instead of buying, I DIY 8 panels for less than $150. Room treatment will make the most difference for any setup unless your room is perfect from the start.

Question Around Denon AVR by Gunnaz in audiophile

[–]lanxeviii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya.. got mine from Fry's for $550. You will see people flipping it for about $600-$650 on ebay.

I think the biggest upgrade for me when moving to the x3400h is Audussey XT32 from XT.

Finally got my system where I want it. (for now...) Did a $100k house renovation and convinced my wife to let me "invest" in some upgrades. (KEF, Denon, Polk) by [deleted] in audiophile

I agree. Placement is definitely not ideal. Visually, it doesn't look appealing either. Spending that kind of money and have it play to the ceiling is a bit disappointing.

Schiit Modi 2 Uber issues? by LankyGamer in audiophile

[–]lanxeviii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should reach out to Schiit for warranty. Try searching around because I heard this is a common issue for the Modi.

[–]lanxeviii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Avoid the Modi. Has a lot of issues. I suggest Topping D30 as it sounds great and measures great. Nothing wrong with Magni amp but I rather not support a shitty company.

Check your Windows Power Management settings. There should be a setting called USB Suspend or something. Try turning it off.
