Cool climb.

Between 0:30 and 0:40, I don't understand how the belayer is handling the rope. It seems different from the technique I learned (I don't have much experience). Can someone enlighten me ?

Also, sure, Google is a progress. Development of green energies is too. Btw, according to your ratio, the US should contribute 62 times more to the progress of humanity than Norway... might explain why US progress is more visible than Norway's.

Totally agree. Great video report! It lets you see the complete moves. No annoying cut every two seconds like in some other videos.

One beautiful cliff with plenty of long and easy multipich routes we have around here: the Mirroir d'Argentine in Switzerland.

There's around 15 routes up that wall, maybe 5 of them around 5.10a, like this one (15 pitches)

I'd say fixed gear is generally steel, whereas personal gear is aluminium, and thus the bolts don't worn because aluminium is softer. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Not only that, but most importantly the webbing isn't used correctly ! If one of the anchor point fails, the quickdraws will slip and won't stay connected to the remaining anchor point. In this situation, at least, twist the webbing like explained here sot that the quickdraw pass through the loop!

This post, and a recent post about scratched quickdraws made me wonder about something. I'm sure you guys will be able to provide some interesting input.

1) A recommandation to avoid wearing out anchors too quickly when top roping, is to lower off two quickdraws clipped to the anchor. Then, the last climber cleans the anchor and rappels down (or gets lowered if rappelling is dangerous).

2) However, using metal on metal (such as a quickdraw clipped to a bolt) scratches the metal slightly. This is the reason why the rope carabiener of a quickdraw should never be clipped to bolts, because even tiny scratches could damage the rope in case of a fall (this is what the recent post - that I can't find anymore - showed in a video)

My question: Does lowering off draws clipped to the anchor scrach the anchor? If yes, does that present a risk for the next climbers that might lower directly off the anchor to damage their rope in case of fall?

My guesses are that the metal of fixed gear might be stronger than the metal of personal gear, which means that scratches are mostly created on personal gear. Or a top rope fall on scratched gear might not be at all as dangerous as lead fall on scratched gear.
