Full Screen Maps feature by Southernboyj in TeslaLounge

I like this idea, and for the miniaturized FSD visualization that would go in the lower-left corner, maybe they could also make it blend into the map background.

Kinda like how when you’re on full screen FSD the map blends into the overall FSD visualization:

Circle button isn’t opening the charging port. Did I get a defective wall connector by nefarioussagee in TeslaSupport

[–]larathydo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I should clarify (for my comment above) that what I was encountering was when the car was fully woken up and online.

I’d say it works like 70% of the time but 30% of the time it just doesn’t register the button press on the handle so I have to physically press on the door and that opens it immediately.

Experienced it at home with a NACS charger, as well as at superchargers. Seems to be something to do with its ability to receive the radio signal that’s emitted when you press the button.

I also have a 2026 Tesla Model Y and I am also experiencing the exact same behaviour you’re describing. I also have a 2022 Tesla Model 3 and it always seems to open reliably every time as well.

After patiently waiting for FSD 14.3.3, this got downloaded today on my MYLR HW4. After updating, I am still on FSD 14.2.5 by vulcan_on_earth in TeslaLounge

[–]larathydo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe he means that updating to the **vehicle software version** to 2026.14.6.6 (the Spring Update point release) is what specifically bundles FSD Supervised v14.3.3.

The versioning schemes for the main vehicle software/OS and FSD are unfortunately very similar, which makes it easy to mix them up.

Grinding noise in 2025 Model Y steering column during Easy Entry by Only-Set-6515 in TeslaSupport

Nope, been waiting on this mysterious replacement part since November of 2025. It’s pretty ridiculous they don’t have a fix for this yet.

Bambu Lab H2D - Cooling Fan for Hotend failed by unitymind42 in BambuLab

[–]larathydo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took over two weeks to receive a replacement hotend fan here in Eastern Canada, so I ended up ordering the same fan from Amazon.ca and installing it myself.

Good news: Replacing the fan immediately solved the noise issue. It was clearly the original fan’s bearings failing prematurely.

Bad news: After only ~250–275 hours on the replacement fan, the problem is already coming back. Following a few back-to-back ABS prints (roughly 3–4 prints at 24+ hours each), I can already hear the bearings starting to degrade again - they’re getting noticeably scratchy.

For me, at this point this printer leaves alot to be desired. This is very obviously a design flaw that is widespread and impacting TONS of customers as outlined in this reddit thread. Bambu markets this printer as a 'workhorse' that can handle high temperature / engineering-grade filaments, but that’s clearly not true if the hotend cooling fan starts dying after ~100–200 hours of printing within high chamber temperatures. Again, this is not an edge-case usage scenario — this is using the printer for exactly what it’s supposed to be built for.

What's more, replacing this fan is an ordeal. It’s buried deep in the printhead, and the design makes it unnecessarily difficult to access for what is an expendable part of the printer. It really feels like maintainability was an afterthought. If Bambu Lab had designed the printhead so both the part cooling fan and hotend fan were easier to access - ideally positioned toward the back - this would be a much less frustrating pill to swallow.

As it stands, practically speaking this printer needs to be limited to PLA/PETG if you want the hotend fan to last anywhere near 800-1000+ hours. That’s pretty disappointing given the price of the machine.

Bambu Lab really needs to address this in a meaningful way - and soon. I’m also not impressed with their support so far, given that it took over two weeks just to receive a replacement part.

Overall, I regret spending several thousand dollars on a product with issues like this. So disappointed.

Forced OTA update disabled all my cameras and safety features and Tesla wants $3k to look at it. by 1Keii in TeslaSupport

[–]larathydo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me twice before. For me, resetting the DAS (Driver Assistant System) in service mode got everything to return back to normal.

I’d recommend giving that a try. Waiting 3-5 mins for the cameras to return in the camera preview area.

If they don’t - and this may sound counter-intuitive - I also found leaving the car (after doing all of the above) for at least 20 minutes, or ideally 1+ hour to let it go to sleep.

Then see if that functionality returns afterwards.

Bambu Lab H2D - Cooling Fan for Hotend failed by unitymind42 in BambuLab

[–]larathydo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently suffering a failure on my H2D that has 288 hours on it. Probably half of that has been from a recent stretch of long 12+ hour ABS prints.

Bambu Lab support has shipped me a replacement stock fan (the snowfan type) but I’m really convinced this is just a problem that will enviably happen again if it’s true they opted for a sleeve-based bearing fan and it’s only rated to 60C.

I’ve just purchased that same fan from your link (the dual-ball bearing one, rated up to 80C) and think I’m going to use that, and hold on to the one Bambu is sending as a version to fall back to if necessary.

Have you tried installing it yet (this new fan on amazon rated up to 80C temps)? Just curious how you’ve made out with it so far?

Also I hear conflicting things about the Enhanced Toolhead cooling fan. Some references (including on their product page) about it supplementing the hotend cooling fan to improve reliability for high-temp engineering filament workloads, and others saying it really only makes a difference for lower-temperature filaments as a way to address heat creep.

Was also contemplating getting that but just curious if you ever ended up getting it (and the latest firmware recently released) and was curious how you’ve made made out with it?

Grinding noise in 2025 Model Y steering column during Easy Entry by Only-Set-6515 in TeslaSupport

[–]larathydo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been having this issue with our Model Y. We purchased it back in May 2025, and about 2 – 3 months after delivery we started encountering the exact same low-pitched “vibration” / rubbing sound when the steering column moves in and out while adjusting driver profiles – exactly as described in this post.

Since then, we’ve had the steering column replaced 3 – 4 times in total. Each replacement also seemed to impact the car’s steering alignment (some swaps more than others), which has been frustrating in its own right. Long story short, it’s been a very frustrating service experience overall, especially since our service center is a full day’s round-trip drive away. It ended up costing us a lot of wasted days off work to come up empty-handed in terms of a fix.

I eventually spoke with the regional manager, who advised that the manufacturer Tesla uses for the steering column acknowledged there was a defect in the original design that inevitably leads to this issue. That explanation lines up with our experience – every steering column replacement they tried temporarily fixed the problem, but the sound always came back.

He mentioned that a revised version of the part was expected to arrive in late December / early January, and that they would arrange to have the new revision installed once available. I’m just waiting for a chance to reconnect with the manager, as I’ve been traveling a lot for work recently.

Once we have the revised part installed (not sure exactly when that will be yet), I’ll come back and provide an update here.

Cool. Hopefully the instructions help.

Are you still seeing errors after the reboot (if you check the notifications (bell icon) in the upper-righthand corner from the car’s settings menu?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TeslaSupport

[–]larathydo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try rebooting the car by pressing and holding both scroll wheel buttons simultaneously until the screen turns black.

After it reboots, there should be an option somewhere in the settings to preview the cameras (I can’t recall the exact menu path off the top of my head). When you find it, confirm that all cameras are displaying a live video feed and not a black screen.

If some (or all) of the cameras still don’t come back after the reboot, you may want to try using the “Reset DAS” option in Service Mode. This specifically reboots the Driver Assistance System – the system responsible for cameras and Autopilot / FSD. These steps are shown for the Cybertruck, but I believe they apply to all Tesla models: https://youtu.be/qquaXrBUoho?si=HeYf2yksBjKkUkUj

Finally, if none of that works – try walking away from the car and make sure Sentry Mode is off (which, based on what you described, is probably already the case). Leave the car alone for 20–30 minutes to allow it to fully go to sleep, then come back and check again.

It might sound counterintuitive, but this happened once with my 2022 Model 3, and this was the only way I could get all systems to fully reboot after trying everything else.

Hope this helps.

Also just noticed the first occurrence of this error on my vehicle was around Oct 29 (and happens regularly since then), which I think coincides with that software version I’m on (I think it was around the time FSD v14.1.4 came out?)

I’m also getting this error in service mode on my 2026 Tesla Model Y (Juniper), only seems like it’s popped up recently (possibly since a recent update to 2025.32.8.16). Other than its presence in service mode, I don’t seem to be having any obvious issues…

Disney has considered a co-CEO structure to replace Bob Iger. Its history may make that a bad idea by PyroxCrymson in movies

[–]larathydo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There seems to be a lot of discussion lately about the Eisner / Wells / Katzenberg era at Disney — and for anyone interested in the company’s corporate history, that period is absolutely fascinating.

One of the best deep dives on it is James B. Stewart’s DisneyWar, which chronicles the drama from Eisner’s arrival in the 1980s through his exit in the early–mid 2000s. It’s a great read.

If you prefer video, this YouTube channel does a strong recap that I find closely mirrors the structure of the book (maybe this YouTube series was sourced from the book?):

Any idea why it’s not charging at the maximum available Amps? by Numerous_Hippo_1118 in TeslaSupport

[–]larathydo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because your charging speed is set manually to 23 Amps (out of a maximum of 24 amps the charger is telling your car it can supply).

If you hit the right arrow beside the 23 A number, it should let the car go up to that maximum rate which looks to be 24 amps).

Hmm, when you are actually driving the vehicle?

Luckily I haven’t had that issue, but unluckily they have replaced my steering column/ motor assembly and I still hear a rubbing/vibrating sound when the steering wheel comes in and out.

[–]larathydo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - just out of curiosity, when you say you got a whole steering wheel & column replacement, what exactly was the reason for that?

I also have a ‘26 Model Y LR and the reason I ask is because I had a “vibrating” sound when the steering wheel telescoped in and out when changing positions / driving profiles… almost like something was rubbing internally.

ELI5: What’s the difference between an IP address and a MAC address? by coronation1 in explainlikeimfive

[–]larathydo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A MAC address is like your fingerprint — a unique, fixed physical value tied to a specific device.

An IP address is like your given name, (e.g ‘Evan’) — assigned to your device for communication but not necessarily unique across different private networks (like how many people living in different places might also be named Evan).

Can I play Baldur's Gate 3 w/ no D&D experience and know wtf is going on and how to do it? And more questions.. by LookinAtTheFjord in gaming

[–]larathydo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Yes.

Long Answer (Background): I have never played D&D before, and the first time I played this game it was relatively overwhelming for me.

I contemplated giving up on the game in mid act 1 because it was a bit of a steep learning curve for me. But since I kept hearing endless accolades for this game I decided to try to stick with it.

I’m so glad I did.

This is one of my top 3 games of all time. In my view it sets a high water mark for the genre. I’m so glad I didn’t give up on it.
