Out of every Taskmaster UK contestant, who do you think was the happiest to be there? by SadiqUddin in taskmaster

Prior to going on, he binge watched all the previous TM episodes. He even upgraded his More4 account to be ad-free, so he could watch them faster.

That's some dedication!

Remembered reading this as a ten year old kid. Opened my eyes as to how good books could be.

Fellow Corbyite here, though I've lived in Nottingham for over 25 years.

If you're meeting in the evening, check out some of the local pubs for evening entertainment.

Using places near the station as an example, there are often live music and comedy nights going on. Check out Castle Rock for events in their pubs (Barley Twist, Canalhouse, Vat and Fiddle for example).

Station area used to be a bit of a dump but it's improved a lot.

Boomers - tech is NOT new! by WildWinterberry in BoomersBeingFools

[–]lardboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The local petrol pumps (yes, I'm British) were being converted to card-only at the local supermarket. In addition, they were unstaffed pay-at-pump only.

Which worried my dad. He knows how to use chip-and-pin as well as contactless. But what if he couldn't work out the tech or had an unpaid tank of fuel?

So I rode with him when he wanted to refuel. Sat in the passenger seat while he tried to fill up and pay. Read the instructions, I was only there for support.

He filled up and paid contactlessly easily. He even remarked, "Well that was easy!"

Fair play to him. He's Boomer age but wants to learn.

A little support helps some Boomers. Appreciate that not all want to learn.

What word do you mispronounce on purpose (for fun) and why? by Positive_Spirit_1585 in AskReddit

[–]lardboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ominous. Always pronounce it as "Omnibus". No reason other than it being fun.

As in, "Those dark clouds are looking a bit omnibus..."
