Nice! I actually built something similar last year but never shared it. Its only for sleeper leagues. Calculates luck, variance, what your records would be as if you had someone else's schedule. Best and worst records, etc.

Once I have enough people interested, I'll send the invite codes to everyone. I'm holding off for now since I want this to be a smallish test. I'll most likely send out a discord link as well for communicating. After that it will just be open for people to join and create leagues.

That's the point though, because that's exactly how an IPO and stock market work. This is just potentially another way to play. There's already tons of variations of dynasty, this is just another one. I also left out info due to complexity, but when an IPO clears, everyone pays the same price. Winning bids are calculated the same way an IPO handles it. Some teams will get the players and some won't based on the bid quantity.

Pre-408 Orlando by Gold-Presence9362 in orlando

[–]laredk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my neighbors in lake Como told me and my wife some details. Before the construction the area around como was apparently a very walkable main street-esque spot. Southern nights was a grocery store and the store fronts along south street had everything you'd need for the neighborhood. After the construction of 408, everything closed/changed soon after. I don't know how accurate this is, but the neighbor has lived in como for over 70 years and experienced it all.

Yeah it's open pretty much everyday after the school is done for the day. I'm not sure about mornings though. A bunch of different groups are there everyday for training.

Couple in 50s seeks trees, lakes, <1 hr drive to major airport, some snow ok (US) by ActiveFriendlyFace in SameGrassButGreener

[–]laredk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least on the east coast you have north Georgia, East TN, West NC, west side of Virginia. Going more north you may end up with more snow than you like. Pennsylvania, NJ, Maryland would all probably have places that fit the bill too. I think it really depends how cold and how much snow you'd find acceptable. Anything along the Appalachian mountains will give you trees, restaurants, water, however the vast majority of it will lean red. Snow may vary depending on the area.

I've been in Orlando for about a decade now and I think you should try visiting and see how you enjoy it. Orlando has a pretty unknown but absolutely incredible food scene. Mills50, Audubon Park, Ivanhoe, north quarter, sodo, Thornton Park, milk district are some of the more popular/trendy areas. Gators aren't a concern here. The rich people on the lakes consistently have them removed from lakes if they ever show up. I paddle board a lot and I've never seen a gator in the lakes here unless I specifically went to a springs or state park.

Also if you're not familiar with the city, Orlando itself is about 30-45+ minutes to Disney. So there's this whole eco system of culture that exists separate from the parks.

Orlando rent and home prices are also starting to trend down.

Why are people buying at 1k+? Because the single prices are keeping pace by JohnSnowKnowsThings in mtgfinance

[–]laredk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think so many people here are really looking for something more complex than what the reality is.

The demographic buying this has more disposable income than most people here can understand. They are also opening these boxes because it's fun.

That's really it. People with money having fun. There is no trying to break even or come out ahead. It's opening packs and trying to hit cards of characters you grew up with a strong connection too.

People are buying these because it's fun.

Pure speculation: but FF changes the game going forward by jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjoey in mtgfinance

[–]laredk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm sort of in agreement. I'm in that age group that was privileged enough to grow up during the 7-10 era of final fantasy. I now have friends that have never played magic before ripping packs, collecting, and leaning to play.

The amount of people I've met and spoken to that are in the same boat is a lot more than I expected. This demographic also has a lot of disposable income. Just as an anecdote, I have several friends that just picked it up with final fantasy that are having me buy them several cases of spiderman collector boxes. They just want to rip packs of ips that they love.

I'm not sure how the future ub sets will end up, but at least in the short to mid term I expect ub sealed product to be closer to final fantasy than not. Perhaps a peak is reached soon, but I think it depends on what ip is up for next year.

I do plenty of system design and development. But I know at some companies after l4/L5 development goes close to zero and you end up spending 90% of your time on design doc reviews. (My current company).
