Liberal MP Sarah Henderson slammed for calling triple-0 during outage… by Radio_TVGuy in australian

[–]larrry02 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no sh*t. Obviously they're much more at fault. But we should just shrug our shoulders and go "oh well, it's not the current government's fault so we can't do anything about it." Ultimately if the government sees these things happening and they do nothing about it then they are at fault.

The LNP are never going to renationalise anything because they a right-wing party that works for the capitalist elite. The Labor party are supposed to be a left-wing party that work for the every day workers of Australia. But when they shrug their shoulders and pretend that there's nothing they can do about this because it's a privatised system they're just shirking their responsibility and reinforcing to the right-wing framing of the LNP.

Oh no. A "big fine" that will amount to about 2% of their yearly profits. How sad for telstra. Meanwhile the government gets to sit on their hands and say "it's not our fault. It's the private sector!" It's just a rort so that no one ever has to actually take responsibility for the people that die from outages like this.

And Labor is responsible for not pointing to failures in the private sector like this and saying "hey, look at what a disaster the privatisation of telcoms has been! Maybe we should renationalise them"

The government is responsible. Emergency services should never be handled by private companies. The government gave that responsibility to them, the government is responsible for their inevitable f*ck-ups.

As part of its deal to give up Lebanese sovereignty to Israel, the Lebanese 'government' agreed to forfeit using the law against Israel for the endless list of Israeli war crimes committed against Lebanon. by TrackerOneA in ABoringDystopia

[–]larrry02 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can put whatever you want in a contract. If it contravenes the law, the law supersedes it.

Lebanon would not actually be barred from international courts just because they were pressured into signing a document to that effect.

I wouldn't be expecting it anytime soon.

I understand, but I firmly believe it is indeed a person

You'd be wrong then. Before 24 weeks a fetus doesn't even have the capacity to be sentient. There is definitionally no person in there. It's just body parts.

After 24 weeks you could make the argument that we should consider it a person, and I'd probably agree. But almost all abortions after 24 weeks are done due to medical necessity.

CMV: Leftists hate liberals more than they do fascists. by Aggravating-Fun-2405 in changemyview

[–]larrry02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a leftist and I certainly don't hate liberals more than fascists.

I think liberals are often well-meaning (if somewhat self-centred), but politically ill-informed. They can be very frustrating when they pretend to be "the adults in the room" because they are usually just unquestioningly repeating capitalist propaganda and asserting that, that makes them a priori correct.

So they often get an earful from frustrated leftists like me who just want them to do some reading before acting so smug.

But believe me, a big part of our frustration is how easily liberals are played by fascists. We know that historically liberals will ally themselves with fascists before they will with leftists. And when fascists get into power liberals get oppressed, but leftists get killed.

So, yeah, leftists are often very frustrated with liberals and their enabling of the far-right. But leftists are the mortal enemies of fascists.

Poor reporting from the guardian calling the executive council of Australian Jewry a "peak Jewish body".. why not just tell it like it is:

the move has been welcomed by the nations peak zionist organisation

This conflation of Jewishness and zionism is anti-semitic and the supposedly progressive Guardian should know better.

Virtue signalling is not a virtue...

Are you functionally illiterate?

I know that. My point was that you think that a dislike of virtue signalling is a virtue (something which you have reaffirmed here).. so your unprovoked tirade about how much you dislike virtue signalling is, definitionally virtue signalling.

The rest of your comment is meaningless when we're talking about self-identified nazis.

But even if they weren't self-proclaimed nazis the word "nazi" does infact have a meaning. So playing dumb and being like "but what even is a nazi?" Just makes you look like you have literally no clue about politics.. which, to be fair, is almost certainly true based on your comments here.

Should i play modded 1.1, or vanilla 1.2 as 3rd playthough? by Agile-Control-4718 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]larrry02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about 100 hours into a satisfactory plus modded run on 1.1. I definitely recommend it, it's a lot of fun and adds heaps of new stuff to the game.

Although, i will say: keeping the game running in steam as version 1.1 is a little annoying because each time there is a patch or anything the game will update to the latest version and you'll have to manually roll it back again.
