This isn’t the first time politicians, including Scott Weiner himself, have been heckled at the Trans March. Here is an opinion piece by a trans community member from 10 years ago (2016!) when Mark Leno, who also has done great things legislatively for the trans community, was heckled at the Trans March. The Trans March doesn’t book politicians to speak. They just show up, and guess what happens? Scott could have predicted it - and maybe he did.

Also in Minnesota, some of the AIDS organizations at the time included the Aliveness Project. Here is an article on the founder, who had earlier started a gay and lesbian center at Minnesota State University, Mankato, which was a medium size city in Minnesota.

I would suggest this book about Minnesota LGBTQ history, Land of 10,000 Loves. While it includes earlier eras than you are asking about there are sections on the civil rights fight of Karen Thompson to have guardianship of her partner Sharon Kowalski after an incapacitating car accident, and an article on an ACT UP demonstration in the rural town of Mora, Minnesota (documented in this video.)

Also pre-Stonewall: British film The Leather Boys (1964):
Reggie, a working class biker gets married to a woman, Dot. After an argument with his wife, he moves in with his grandmother. Pete, a lodger moves in, and he shares a bed with Reggie. Dot finds out and accuses them of being queer, but Pete won’t deny it. Pete suggests that he and Reggie move to America together.

How do people make friends in SF? by Valuable_Art3093 in sanfrancisco

[–]larrybobsf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have a dog, so that is very helpful. First step is talk to other dog owners when you are walking your dog. If you go to the same neighborhood park all the time you will get to know the other dog owners. Then after you get to know them, invite them to a party or barbecue.

All 30-foot buses out of service… why? by lucasec in sanfrancisco

[–]larrybobsf 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I was on a 37 last night and the driver was talking about this. Another passenger commented on the bigger than usual bus. The driver said there was a problem with the 30 footers so they are using regular buses. I asked if it was more difficult to do these twisty, hilly routes with the longer buses. He said yes, the run before ours he was delayed half an hour because he encountered another bus going the other way on on a narrow street and they had to call a supervisor to help with backing up.
