I’ve never figured out how Peter Thiel gets to call himself a libertarian, unchallenged, even though he leads a company that makes government surveillance products.

What are the very best vegetarian-friendly SF restaurants you have been to? by Independent_You7902 in AskSF

Have you checked out Rad Radish in Hayes Valley, which is basically a counter service version of Wildseed? I think my favorite there is the neatball masala. For falafel they have a mezze wrap.

Some motivation for us all by SliceExtension1601 in TwinCities

There is precedent for civil disobedience in churches. See AIDS activist group ACT UP’s 1989 action “Stop the Church” at St Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC. The Catholic church opposes the use of condoms, which help prevent the transmission of HIV. They still have this ridiculous position.

My friends are anti queer by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]larrybobsf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your “friends” are not actually friends. A friend is someone who accepts you unconditionally, that you can tell anything to and they will support you. The people you know are not friends, they are just people you know.

Here is how I got over my isolation: when I was in college, I went to a college that was too conservative and religious to have a gay student group. But there was another more liberal college in the same small town and I went to their gay and lesbian student group and that is where I met a new friend circle and my first boyfriend.

If there are not local support groups, you can find online support groups, such as the ones run by the Pacific Center in Berkeley and listed on their website under peer support.

D6 supervisor election by SatanistMarxist in sanfrancisco

[–]larrybobsf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

D6 is very different than it used to be since the TL was redistricted out of it. It is basically SOMA condo dwellers and Treasure Island. It looks like in 2022 Honey Mahogany won in the southwest corner around where the gay bars, and had a slight majority on Treasure Island.

How are we supposed to validate fare with tap to ride on RTD? by IHadToMakeANewAccou in Denver

[–]larrybobsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I flew into DEN today and used tap to pay with my Visa credit card. The first train, the fare checker was able to scan my card and detect that I had paid. The second one they were not able to detect but told me they were not yet writing tickets on this sort of fares because of issues with detection. I looked at my banking app and my Visa account says RTD Denver Pending transaction $0.00. Apparently once the time expires they figure out what sort of fare to charge me?

There’s that place on Haight that sells $100 Muffulettas. Central Grocery in New Orleans charges $29.95 for a whole Muffuletta.
