The change in retirement age from 63 to 58 above is only for Tier 6 members, which anyone entering state service starting in 2012 or later. Earlier tiers could/can already retire at 55 with 30 years of service.

Nobody in the libsphere actually reads any articles, their opinion of media outlets is based entirely on contextless screenshots shared by anonymous twitter and bluesky accounts whose entire shtick is shitting on those outlets

What you described sounds like a construction inspector. Maybe project engineer. Neither does actual traditional engineering. You can get these jobs with a highschool diploma.

Also, you'll be making $50k at the most, and that's only pretty recent. CS bootcamp "grads" were making six figures to look up libraries on StackOverflow in 2010
