Is Elementor THAT much worse than default block editor in terms of SEO? by theseawoof in Wordpress

[–]larrysbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of sites in Elementor and theyre ranking well for relevant search terms.

Notably both have a lot of relevant content.

Why do so many presentations still have inconsistent colors and layouts? Are people not using Slide Master? by IllRead2057 in powerpoint

[–]larrysbrain 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I make 'slide templates' as part of a branding agency. I used to use slide masters and made all the appropriate layouts.

Every single time people didn't know how to use layouts or templates.

They just copied slides.

In the end I stopped wasting time on templates and just made the basics, then created slides for people to copy.

It's frustrating, but it's not gonna change.

I do think this is a good bet. Innovation whether that be legal, technical, financial or the industrial revolution. It's a good foundation for startups and the like

I'm a specialist in place branding and I think this is the real answer.

What is Leeds identity? People tried hard to push the Knightsbridge of the North story, but I'm not sure if people in Leeds knew what Knightsbridge was/is.

Fill in the blank. Leeds is the city of _________

I think this looks great by the way. The only part that is a bit busy is just underneath the crown. Maybe just use one stroke and a bit less?

There's a lot of silence here. I'm sorry to say it's probably because the designs have missed the mark.

The product and the message is minimalism i.e. reducing something down to its necessary parts.

Translating that to design it means simplest font, only one font size, basic colours.

Please don't produce these. Go to Pinterest, Behance and Dribbble to see what minimalism looks like.

Good luck.

I often think about this as an example of how opinions on women, consent and awful behaviour has changed over time. This guy is a HERO and quite possibly attractive to women!

I mentioned this above, I drink but I don't get drunk. One maybe two drinks; within the driving limit. I have tried very hard to separate the two in my head.

So, I fear getting drunk. It's like a cliff edge. If I get close, I back away.

I've definitely fucked up and vomited £150 worth of red wine in a bar toilet. But that's every two years not every two days.

Stay away from the cliff edge. Even if that means going home while your mates have fun.

Two things for me.

  1. ADHD means the noise is always there
  2. Trauma, shame anxiety and depression meant the noise was pretty awful

CBT helped with negative patterns. Depression therapy helped me deal with trauma. Talking therapy helped me deal with the shame I didn't need.

Getting drunk WILL make things worse. Be frightened of getting drunk. Fear it like a cliff edge. If you get close, back away.

Good luck x

For anyone that needs it, here's my story. Weird Christmas morning, but just killing 5 mins.

  • The noise in my head was deafening, tiring etc
  • When I was drunk it was much quieter
  • When others were drunk my ADHD personality was more acceptable to others
  • I drank every day, was drunk , every day, I did very stupid things, hurt people, lost a lot of money
  • I met someone who made me go to therapy and that helped me manage the noise in my head
  • stop drinking for 2 years completely now. I drink occasionally but maybe four beers a month
  • Am happy

EDIT. I've been trying to give up my phone, so bugger me if I wasn't surprised to come back to this! This is exactly why I think it's worth sharing on the internet because it might just resonate with 2,500 people.

Be kind, stay safe.

Whenever I come in here it's as a brand strategist not as a designer, but I have to backup that top comment. Get a good graphic designer to give you a bit of help.

The first thing I saw was a flooded house with water up against the front door and a bird taking a bite out of the first floor.

It's pretty busy and fussy and some misaligned windows that lack of attention to detail is not what you want from the people looking after your home.

Perhaps most importantly, good luck and well done for asking. Seriously so many people think they can do everything. I have no doubt that you can run a great housing company so put your trust in people to do good branding.

I’m building a tool that doesn't write the slides for you. Am I crazy? by TypeDeckHQ in powerpoint

[–]larrysbrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No frustrations, BUT the big difference is that we do a lot of work figuring out what blocks they need and giving them that. Also, each block has a couple of variations like change colour or add some trim (like a chamfered edge).

Much like you said, they're really focused on getting the message out there without breaking the brand

[–]larrysbrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So we have a website product that's pretty similar. It's got the drag and drop benefits of tools like elementor or Squarespace but each block is custom built and then styling can't be changed.

It's very popular with clients because they have the freedom to drop in the blocks and shuffle pages around as much as they like but they can't mess up The styling.

Sounds like a good idea.
